The day is winding to a close and darkness is coming. Justin has since left my house and supposedly heading for home. I know he had left some of his belongings at his father's house where he had spent a couple days taking care of Mickey the dog. Whether he is going there tonight or waiting until tomorrow I do not know. I DO know that he starts his summer class, Astronomy 101, I guess, tomorrow evening. He needs a couple science or similar classes to earn his AA degree, so he is working in that direction. Good!

Justin came to church with me, met me as I was greeting at the door. All were glad to see him, some not seeing him on Easter Sunday. The choir sang a hymn about Christian homes which was quite lovely and then I got to sit with him the rest of the service. The closing hymn was "Go, My Children" which was another funeral hymn, and yes, a perfect message in musical form. At first Justin asked me, when we noticed it in the service folder, if we should step outside while the song was sung, and I said, "Sure, if you want to..." but then he changed his mind. We sat through it, made all the more lovely by Suzanne playing the viola with the MIDI. We shed a tear or two and then regrouped.

After church, Sarah came over to me as we were being dismissed, and handed me a card, gave us each a hug, and left. Then she came back and told me about signing her name and writing mine on the card, in her own hand! Such a big big girl! And I really loved the card. They (Lawcock's) are just so thoughtful. For the first couple years after Timmy died, Emily would get me a Mother's Day card, to sort of make up for the losses I was experiencing. Justin is really good at Mother's Day, and did good today, too.

Our plans included going to see "Star Trek" after having lunch at 5 Guys burger joint but the tickets he got were for 1:00 pm and we arrived too late to have lunch first. He insisted I would need some Dramamine for the movie. This took time and two different stores in order to find some. Good ole Publix comes through again! We decided to just snack on our little candy treats, no popcorn, and then have lunch afterward instead. The movie was great, and I am glad that I was not aware of the controversy from die hard "Star Trek" TV show fans, because I was tickled to see and hear so many similarities to the old program enjoyed by my sister, Lori, and me years ago.

We got our nice lunch, eating inside the restaurant because it was too hot outside in full sun for Justin to enjoy his meal. We shared a small order of fries but still ended up bringing about half of those home with us. Once our clothes were changed, it was down to the pool we went, choosing shade to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. "He is a talker", as our friend, Jackie, used to say about him, making the time pass rather quickly. When we came upstairs, I got my caftan on and we settled in to watch a couple episodes of "Seinfeld", Justin's choice, before he decided to go home. Justin had gotten me a bouquet of flowers and a pretty card, which he admitted was not as perfect as the one he got for me last year. In fact, that card has remained on my buffet all year. He told me it was the first card he picked up and it was exactly right for me....I told him that one would be hard to beat and he said he toyed with putting last year's card in a new envelope, as sort of a joke. That is the problem with perfection, it is soooo hard to beat!

Happy day you mother... HA...
Yes Lori and I saw Star Trek last night too... it was wonderful... I didn't hear about any controversy... It was great to see the young kids playing their parts just right.

Hi David!
I am glad to see/hear that you got back home from Manty safe and sound. How nice of you to make the trip over, and enjoy that balmy spring weather.....
I was going to call Lori and talk to her about the movie but now I won't have to, since she saw it already. They did a good job with it, tying in old expressions and such from the series. I was so sad about......oh, wait, no spoiler me!
Hugs,
Kim
Once again, I say to you, Happy Mother's Day!
Hmm, I didn't realize there was a new Star Trek movie out, but then I rarely am aware of any movies that are currently playing. Guess I'll catch it when HBO airs it 50 million times in 3 months, once it's released for cable!
I enjoyed playing Go My Children this morning, and actually only did it originally because it was the last hymn, and I always try to catch the last one to play along with. Must have been exceptional, since Pastor made a point of letting me know before the WELS video was over! Glad it was so nice for everyone!
Happy Mother's Day, friend!
Suzanne
Was sad taht I didn't get to see my big boy yesterday but talked to him. Got to see Bryson, Hannah and Jamie on webcam Saturday but it is not the same. One more month and I will see them. Must get going to make a luch and off we go. Sunny cool hugs today! Jill
Sounds like you had a nice mother's day!! Me too.
I had to laugh when you said you ate inside because of the heat. I'm cold in the house this sunny 40 degree morning....so why am I laughing?????
Have a great day!
Diane
God morning, Suzanne!
When I go to the movies, I pay special attention to the coming attractions because a good sample is presented. Justin informed me yesterday that the theater does not have say over the coming attractions, only the studio that is presenting that day's movie can say. That is why I did not see "Life in Ruins" advertised during the previews, it is a different studio than "Star Trek". Ask Justin, he knows these things!
I will never grow weary of hearing, "Go, My Children", which actually was the hymn selected by Justin for the funeral service, but do not expect me to sing along, at least for a while. "Waking, sleeping, I am with you, you are my own". How comforting!
Love and hugs,
Kim
Hi Jill,
I am sure Jamie paid special attention to the other mom in his life, the mother to his son! Sorry that none of your sons were with you at lunchtime but at least you got to spend time with your mom and many of your sisters and your niece and her boys.....that must have been a fun tableful of people! Bet you didn't eat outside either, did you??? Bbbbrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Tell me what you took in your lunch, I am curious!
Hugs,
Kim
Hi Dee Dee!!
Yes, I guess that must seem odd to those of you still shivering up there in the north. Justin talked to his grandma yesterday while we sat poolside and she told him it was 30 degrees when they got up on Mother's Day!!! Yikes! It was mid-90's here, hotter at the Mall, and no umbrellas so we ate inside. Poolside we sat in the shade of the ancient oaks and were nibbled on by ants! Good eatin' at The Club!
All I can say is, this chilly weather had better move on before I get up to WI at the end of the month!
Hugs and warm smiles,
Kim
