No longer on the river and, again, an empty nester. Back to living on Fleming Island and making some more friends!

Having a "down day" today.....

......but not in a bad way, rather by design. Last night I left a message at the endodontist office saying I'd decided to hold off the other root canal for a bit, now that things have pretty much settled down in my mouth. I keep taking the antibiotic to knock out the infection, and even though my tooth next to the repaired one is tender, it's nothing some aspirin can't handle. Not bothering using the "good" pain medicine for it, save that for another incident which I am sure is coming!

I almost have to retract what I was going to say about the day, that I chose to stay in all stinking day, but.............................shortly after 6:00 pm my phone rang. I'd put some cauliflower in the veggie steamer to have for dinner....anyway, it was Olivia calling to see if I want to have dinner with them. Sure! My steamer was nearly done and by the time they got down here to collect me, it was done enough to unplug as I headed out the door. I've made this claim before---if someone calls and wants to go to dinner, I'll shut off the stove and accept! Get out of my way! I got to ride in my big red car again, which is great fun.

We went to Fleming Island to an Italian eatery called "Venice", even though the owners appear to be Greek. Hey, it's okay with me! The food was great, but, of course, I brought much of mine home with me. Owen drove in from Middleburg to meet us, arriving in his restored Jeep. It looks so cool but kills his back and causes his pants to tear as he pulls himself up into it. I thought my big red car was a climb! Olivia wanted me to go for a ride with him but I refused, there was no way on this earth I'd get up into it, not without a stool or a running board!

Olivia is getting interested in scrapbooking, especially since they picked up their photos taken at yesterday's Debutant event. She printed over 300 pictures, more than enough for a decent scrapbook. Sandy and she came upstairs after dinner and looked at some of my albums to get an idea of what's involved. I offered to go shopping with her to buy supplies when she's ready. I showed them the most recent project done of my mother-in-laws' life plus my Mediterranean trip one. I think she's in!!!!!!!

During the summer we are taking a recess from our Monday a.m. Bible study which totally messes with my inner schedule. I told Justin earlier that I was so hungry for Longhorn's chicken fingers, because we go there every week after study. Since I had no place to go and nothing else scheduled, I decided to just stay home and enjoy myself. Linda called this afternoon and we had a great chat, perfect for a day at home. She's recovering her knee surgery and finds herself watching TV when she's not asleep from the medicine and not doing therapy. She just watched the movie "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and had to call me about Santorini, where some of the movie takes place. I've written about this movie in previous blogs. Linda hasn't seen "Under the Tuscan Sun" yet either so is going to fit that into her viewing schedule.

Santorini, the jewel of the Aegean!

Tomorrow is the big day--The Bucket List comes out in the stores!!!! I have to go to Mandarin's Barnes and Noble for copies of "When I Was Young on the Mountain" which I am using for the memoir writing workshop. I have some ladies coming on Wednesday so need the books for their reference, for homework. I think B & N will carry the DVD, too, so can get it all in one stop! I so 'cited!!!!!!

My sister, Lynn, and Mom drove to Marinette for the funeral of my Auntie Svea. Her husband, my Uncle Kenny, died in 1988, just prior to our moving to Florida, and we used that car ride to drop the bomb on some of my family. Figuring we could use that time to discuss our plans and such---well, it didn't turn out quite the way we'd hoped. For some reason or another my peoples didn't want us to move away and take precious baby Justin from them. We all know it worked out for the best, allowing our families the opportunity to come visit outside their own state and for my mom to be part of two church families. I can't imagine life without my church, it's such a blessing! Auntie Svea was in her 90's already, I think, and has three children surviving her. We loved going to visit them, a good hour and a half ride in those days.....and we'd drive over the border into Michigan to buy our contraband oleo! Was that okay, I wonder??????? Bet not!

Linda's phone call stirred in me a desire to check out the listing of free movies available ON DEMAND. I am trying to offer relief to my eyes by not spending so much time on the computer, so took a little break late afternoon. Still haven't discontinued my Comcast service, just dread the thought of getting on the phone with BellSouth again to discuss the change over. That's a fact! It takes so much time, and with my busy schedule................Maybe tomorrow I'll get to it. I watched a movie called "Face the Music" (1993) about a formerly married couple who had teamed as song writers in the past, and were contacted to collaborate on song for a movie. They ended up, of course, getting married again, but the story in between was quite cute. Sort of the same premise as the more recent movie with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore about a song writing team.

By switching my Internet service to BellSouth, I am able to retain my home phone number which we've had forever. At least since we moved out of the Middleburg exchange area. When I called to cancel my home phone service, which I don't really need anymore since Mom isn't coming down to stay in the winters, the representative said I'd lose the number forever. UNLESS, I switch my Internet to theirs, the number will be reserved for me should I ever decide to put in a land line again. And, it's less money than Comcast, apparently more dependable, too! All I have to do is make the phone call and its done.

I have the patio doors and my kitchen door open right now, allowing for a warm breeze to blow through the house. The chimes are tinkling (I'll clean that up later....) and palms are making tropical noises for my enjoyment. The A/C kicked in to respond to the warmth so I shut it off completely. Evidently it must be more than 80 degrees in here....When it's time to go to bed, I will close the doors and turn the A/C back on for comfortable sleeping. In the meantime, I'll relish the sounds and sensation of summer (spring) breezes.

Pastor is gone to a Conference and is taking his daughter to a youth retreat so we are without our leader for Tuesday and Wednesday night's study. So, guess what! My house is going to be used for a modified Bible study Tuesday evening! I had just ordered a tape of the "God's Great Exchange" which is sort of training for evangelism so I've decided that is what we'll use. I can prepare something for our dinner or meet like we usually do at an area restaurant. I already have cauliflower ready to serve!!!!
