No longer on the river and, again, an empty nester. Back to living on Fleming Island and making some more friends!

“Potential for frost tonight…”

Well, just what I wanted to hear! Overnight it dropped to 41 degrees above zero here and soared to the mid 60’s by noon during the day. Justin and I were at Wal*Mart this afternoon and I saw a man there I knew, sporting shorts and a sleeveless shirt. Justin and I were buying clothes to take to New York with him, to keep warm at the football game, and this guy is dressed for the beach! Or for 64 degrees! Personally, I was wearing a turtleneck and fleece pullover, and was so comfortable. That Justin---he gets “Christmas” every time we go to the store together!

We went to Bible study this a.m. where Justin got to hug on his ‘lady friends’ and get hugged back. They have really missed him in the class. Justin had coupons to use before the end of football season and since time was of essence, opted for Sonny’s BBQ. We had to buy $25 worth of food and drink to qualify, and came up 34 cents shy. At the register, we bought two Thin Mints which satisfied the coupon, plus brought home enough leftovers for his dinner tonight. We got three meals, then, for $16, which is a score in my book. Gotta love Sonny’s baked beans…

Originally he thought he had to go to work after lunch but it turned out he did not, so finished the vacuuming and did his laundry. “I am yours until 8:15 tomorrow morning” he announced to me. Great! He is placing the heavy dining room chairs around the family room for me, in preparation for the Ladies’ Group party which is Monday. Nice! He will put them back on Tuesday, since he flies back Monday night in time for the Jaguar game. It will be late when he gets home.

When we got home from lunch, I dropped him off to finish the vacuuming while I went over to Winn Dixie for soda. I did not want to hold him up and have him be late to work because of me, this being before he knew he didn’t have to go in. WD had a meal special where I bought a family-sized lasagna and got garlic bread, frozen veggies, a 2-liter bottle of soda, and an Edy’s ice cream (quart???) thrown in. What a deal! And all for the cost of the lasagna.

We have had a ‘situation’ here since Justin came back---a battle over the Internet strength. It seems there is a shortage of signal for two or three computers going at once. When I am here alone, it is no problem but when he comes home from work, the battle begins. At his bungalow, he has a bigger router which he will bring over here the next time he goes out to the beach. That might help boost the signal to support us both.

My next door neighbor, Patti, called me rather late last night to report she was having troubles with her e-mail, after I had let her know her spouse’s e-mail had been hacked. He has not been able to use a computer since his stroke 4 years ago so I knew he did not send me sexually suggestive e-mails. Patti talked for hours during the day with people all over the place from AOL, Apple, and ATT, trying to resolve the hacking problem. I was not able to offer advice since I am not familiar with Apple. She said she liked her ‘new’ Apple until this happened! Everything was fine until she had to log-on using his computer to take an on-line class. Now she is getting far more instruction than she bargained for.

In recent weeks, I discovered, reruns of course, a TV show called "The Big Bang Theory". Justin loves it but the reason I watch it is because I now watch The O'Reilly Factor at 11 pm. I know, I know, but it makes perfect sense to me.... More than once Justin has told me that I am "Sheldon", the quirkiest of the geniuses in the group. No, he does mean that I am a genius---it's more the quirky part! Sheldon has to have things a certain way, sit in a certain place, is particular about what he touches, and evidently does NOT like to have his soda cases put upside down in the fridge either. "You really ARE just like Sheldon!" he just said to me, when I thanked him for putting the soda case right side up. Well, we geniuses do have our ways about us!

He and I are now surrounded with baskets of laundry—ugh! I think I will take care of my folding, that hateful job, and then make some popcorn for my before sleep snack. I can sleep peacefully knowing my friend, Linda J., has successfully had her knee replaced and is tucked into bed in her hospital room. She sent me a text message complimenting the hospital on the quality of their pain medication and was planning to go to sleep. God, bless my friend and thank you for the successful, uneventful surgery! (I am so arrogant to expect the Lord follows my blog….not really)
