No longer on the river and, again, an empty nester. Back to living on Fleming Island and making some more friends!

A day in infamy!

This is something that NEVER happens---I got in the pool on the 9th of May! I was like a cutter on the Great Lakes, breaking through the first layer of ice.

On Thursday night I had let Nancy W. know that I would not be going to Breakfast Club and would instead by dining poolside for lunch now that the cabana is open. Yay! By the time I got outside, two of my friends, Pat and O. were already there, having first gone for their walk that morning. I believe they had completed their water exercises and Pat is a lap swimmer besides being a walker. They were just finishing their lunch when I got to the table.

Another lady from our water group, Joyce, was seated at the table, having not ventured into the water just yet. I finished my lunch and then went charging down the steps like a crazy nut to join the ladies in the water. I just did it! Nancy just dived in, brave soul that she is. The pool on her end of the property has been warm enough for her to swim for a week already.

O. encouraged me to get my shoulders under, to 'walk on water'. She admires my ability to basically walk around the perimeter of the water without benefit of additional flotation devices other than what God gave me. I did dunk under at one point to get my hair wet.

Getting my shoulders under, though, made me colder yet, so I kept my upper torso out of the water and I didn't freeze to pieces. I asked Joyce to take my picture before she had to leave, as proof that I got in the water several weeks earlier in the season than I normally would. No one, including me, can believe it!
