No longer on the river and, again, an empty nester. Back to living on Fleming Island and making some more friends!

It's coming!

The nice weather is coming! A man told me yesterday that he did not want the 80 degree temperatures, that this would be too hot. I explained that is one reason why I live in Florida, to enjoy this type of weather, with which he agreed. He works indoors, what does he care anyway? I had some DVD's copied from VHS tapes for church and some family ones made. This man has quite the business going, sure is easy is enough work, even though he has to sit through watching people's home movies....
*
As I sit now in my family room I am being serenaded by my downstairs neighbor who is playing their grand piano. It takes me away, not show tunes, but classical numbers and I can just see Cassidy's fingers dancing on those keys...One time she did me the honor of playing "Be Still My Soul", or rather, its melody by Sibelius. It is also nice to be enjoying another room in my home than my bedroom now that it is warming up. The sun is pouring across the floor in many colors as it shines through the colored glass on the clear shelf. I love my home!
*
Justin was here early this morning on his way to help his father. First, he had to help me! He got the cable boxes hooked up and I was able to watch Fox and Friends this a.m. for at least an hour or so. He was relieved to know that the moving and storage place his father is using also has bodies to rent, therefore making Justin's job a bit easier. The workmen know how to professionally load the SAM container which will be stored until it is needed again. Finally!, according to Justin. Friday he will be back here to clean, once the packing and moving is over.
*
Yesterday was my kindergarten day and the kids, only four this time, declared they were happy I was there. One little guy said, "We were hoping you would come..." AW! I totally forgot about getting them something to play with outside as was my plan (make a note for shopping today...). Two of Laurie's boys were out sick and she was running a temp herself, but hanging in.They are off starting tomorrow so she can lie down tonight. She expressed to me her sorrow/concern about there not being a kindergarten or extra grades next year and I am at a loss as to how to help with this. While it should not, probably, it all comes down to dollars and cents. We struggle as a congregation to keep our kitchen supplied, and toilet paper in the bathrooms, so the prospect of paying another teacher even a partial salary is daunting. However, our mission, our purpose as a congregation is to teach and preach, and by golly, we should be doing that.
*
I really need Easter, I really need Holy Week because I find myself feeling weary weary weary of all this 'struggling' in our lives. We must turn our eyes heavenward from where comes our help, and guidance. It does not seem that people in our area of the country or state will see jobs return any time soon which means the financial woes will remain and likely even worsen before they get better. Will they get better? I pray this is so. "Everything is economics", or the litany from the Clinton campaign, "It's the economy, stupid" anchors us in place while we wait for 'things' to turn around.
*
There, I feel a bit better. My friend, Jen, called yesterday to tell me she is coming over this afternoon. I have not seen her in forever and miss hanging around with her family. They have had some terrible struggles in their lives, not all of them financial, which had them staying much closer to home. I remember one night when making plans with some other friends on where to have dinner, they asked which of the two choices was the cheapest....After considering them, I mentioned how 'funny' it was that this even came up in discussion. Not that long ago it mattered not which was cheaper or more expensive---we just went and had a good time. Now, it mattered. Anyway, Jen is coming over with my Girl Scout cookies before picking up her kids from school so that will be nice. They put in a firepit at their house which is in the country, and said they will have me out so I can practice being a pyro! Brenda N. is coming by tonight for a visit, since she missed the movie night on Monday. Too bad Betty was not able to spend a minute with the elusive Brenda but that is how it goes with her. At this moment I should be readying myself for a luncheon date with some ladies from church and a former member, Lieselette, at Pengree's. No discussion about prices this time and I look forward to seeing my lady friends again since I missed them Sunday. I can already smell the patty melt I usually order at Pengrees...yummy!

It's me again

Not even nine a.m. and I am at the keyboard for at least an hour already. Still in my bed, of course, but up and at 'em early. Today is my day to go to the kindergarten classroom and will try not to be late again. I nearly forgot to go last week and left later than I should but still arrived in time to hear them read what they wrote. It is simply amazing what these kids are taught and what they are learning! Did I learn that stuff? Perhaps, but it might have been more subtle when I was a kid. Now they are learning about diagraphs and four-square writing (one square is the topic, and three squares are the body, with a conclusion box) and sorting skills. They use Skittles and Fruit Loops to help with sorting, counting, graphing, etc., just amazing for kindergarteners!
*
Last night when the ladies were here for dinner, we ate the second pizza from Papa Murphy's, a simpler one with only pepperoni. Neither lady had this type of pizza before and I feel like I work for Papa Murphy's or something, the way I talk it up. Even gave the sales pitch to the Comcast man who came while we were eating. He was enjoying the view, starting first on the top floor penthouse unit on the north end. I said it might be hard to go home again and Travis, the Comcast man, said, "If I had to choose between this view and my kids, I pick my kids..." Wow! That was a joy to hear, music to my ears. The penthouse unit had receptivity problems and was told to get an electrician to kick up her voltage a bit. I asked Travis why she needed an electrician for low-voltage work and he said electricians can do low-voltage, too. Betty and I both said that in 'our' business, it was done by two different contractors. We explained about being in the home building business and Travis said that for 17 years he was a concrete man, but now, he installs cable TV. Oh, this market!
*
So, at some point during the night, the cable stations went snowy, I am not sure if that is permanent or not, but as of this moment, only the local stations are coming in. I do hope Justin can install those new gizmos for me sooner rather than later because I have had more than enough snow this year to suit me! I think one of my upstairs neighbors is getting some work done in their unit because it sounds like someone bouncing a superball or similar on a hardwood floor. Construction sound carries vertically in this building so we have few secrets if we are remodeling or anything.
*
My bedroom is nice and shiny today as I attempted to get the dust under control yesterday. I just have way too much 'stuff' in this room, too many horizontal surfaces to collect papers, books, and dust! My friend, Linda J., has her 'headquarters' set up around her recliner chair in the family room with a pull-up table to work on. Her Bible and its study materials ever at hand, a magazine rack with table next to the chair, pens and pencils nearby, all set. I use an entire room for sleeping, TV viewing, 'working', and piling stuff. I hate going to the mailbox because there is more stuff in it to add to the collection. Well, now it is all dusted and will hopefully stay that way for the rest of the week! This part of the world is experiencing the yellow pollen dust that covers EVERYTHING, making everyone's car yellow. In the early part of the day I had wiped off my counters and dusted the stove, and by afternoon, all surfaces were again coated with yellow dust!
*
When I got home from WI, my poinsettia had surrendered its leaves and such to the floor in my river room where they still are. I did pick up a handful of the crispy leaves and threw them out but am leaving the disposal of the plant and its residue for Justin to clean up. That is his job but now I have to wait my turn---again---while he helps his father get packed up. His deadline is fast approaching so now its hustle hustle hustle. I need some hustle over here, too, and it is my own fault for not being more adamant about his doing the cleaning. I do not mind dusting, sometimes, but he must do the vacuuming and heavy lifting.
*
On Easter Sunday we are having guests here for dinner, a change in plans from our original ones of dining at The Club. I am so happy about that, because I feared I would regret not having a gathering here on this special day. The same day Justin asked me about it, I had written to Judy R. expressing the concern about not having people around my table, so it worked out wonderfully! While waiting for LeAnn yesterday I made out my menu/shopping list for Sunday so I am ready to go. And so excited. While this is a busy week as far as church goes, it is quiet as far as Bible studies go. We had none on Monday, no worship on Wednesday night, no Bible study on Thursday, but worship both Thursday and Friday nights. Nothing on Saturday but all morning Sunday will be Easter celebration and activities. And then the feast!
*
Just hung up after a lengthy chat with Justin. He has class today so does not have to work. Probably a good thing because he mentioned his many aches and pains and blood from his working so hard recently. Apparently Justin got hit in the knee cap with the star from the top of his father's flag pole, not sure if that drew blood or not. It is a good thing Justin works out at the gym or he would never be able to handle this. Some of his friends have been helping him out which has really been a blessing for Justin, strength in numbers and young people to boot!
*
Justin was reading to me the sales flyer from Publix which he looked up on-line. Potato rolls are on special but I do not want to buy those too far in advance because I want them fresh for our dinner. Nothing is better than a potato roll with Honey Baked Ham on it! Oooh, I am getting so excited about making the feast, believe it if you will. Nothing overly fancy, quick fix items, delicious just the same. Must order my ham before I forget and I have a coupon for it to boot!
*
He is coming over tomorrow morning first thing to install my cable boxes for me, even though he wanted to walk me through the installation. Nope, I want him to do it. Friday he is coming to clean and put away my 'winter' stuff, like the wreath on the door and my snowman in the courtyard, holding a little evergreen tree, that I used at the cemetery over Christmas. Since it is soon predicted to be in the 80's around here, it might be time to put the snowman away! And clean up the poinsettia mess, too!

I meant to do this earlier

This morning I thought about things I wanted to write today but only now am I getting at it. One thing that came to mind was how Justin has a different way of viewing things, sort of 'adjusted' for his age group. The other day I said some place being open for business but he stopped me, suggesting I not use that expression any more because it refers to hookers and such. What? Not liking to be told not to say something, I replied that only a select group of people (ahem, his age group) would question such a thing. Open for business is just that, a company or restaurant is ready for customers, consumers, and it does not have to mean anything more or less! Ugh! Yesterday he mentioned the blouse I wore to church...he found it a bit-----Latino! Really? It was red and black on a white background with red sequins stitched around some of the flowers on the front. What exactly makes it 'Latino', and is that a problem? These things might be true in the 'club scene' but are not necessarily true at The Palace, you know? No, and do not try to convert me to another mindset, you silly boy!
*
The Palace owners got another notice about the Comcast guy coming to deliver the boxes and receivers. It seems that Friday the guy went to The Club instead of down here and they basically sent him on his way. Rats! So, Jeff rescheduled with Comcast, giving even more specific directions, and they showed up today. They were expected at 3:00 pm so about half past I went downstairs to see if anyone was around and found a man who was getting something from his truck. It was him!!! He told me he was working in another unit but would come to my unit next. Evidently it took a really long time there because he did not show up at my house until three hours later! He dropped off the little boxes, much smaller than what I had before, since I told him my son would hook them up for me. The guy seemed a bit rushed, probably this building took him longer than they anticipated.
*
At noon time I met Judy J. and LeAnn for lunch at Aron's where instead of my usual Stromboli, I enjoyed a lovely lunch-sized portion of fettuccine alfredo. Oh yum! I might have a new 'usual'! One nice thing was the lunch portion is much smaller than the dinner size so I was able to finish the whole serving. It was wonderful to spend time with LeAnn again and get caught up with one another. In fact, we made a tentative plan to meet at least once a month so we do not loose touch again. Count me in!!
*
Tonight Judy J. came back over here to watch "The Blind Side" with me, and Betty. Brenda N. was invited but as always, she was running a hundred miles an hour. She called part way into the movie to excuse herself, explaining that she had locked herself out of her daughter's house, etc. which Betty could hear from where she was sitting. We smiled, knowing exactly that this was SOOO Brenda! She asked for a rain check to come watch it when things settle down for her, maybe in 2012!! Poor Brenda, always in a flurry....the best thing for her would be to sit down and watch a movie, with the full moon shining in the window on her, like we had!
*
I would dearly love to write some more but the long awaited TV show is being replayed tonight, "Selling New York" which I missed due to the goofy Comcast station going in and out! Mostly out that night and I rejoice it is being replayed for me tonight. No worries, I am just looking....

My shirt is wet again

Yes, wet with tears. And my face and neck as well. Once more I have watched on 'regular' TV a movie called "Life As A House", just chock-full of life lessons and poignant moments, sigh....Lori and family had brought the DVD with them at Christmas but it was unedited so difficult for me to sit through. On regular TV, it is edited and therefore, watchable for me. And quite enjoyable. Now that I am sitting up to write, I see the sun beaming on the trees across the river and blue sky exposed. It was overcast much of the day, although I did observe an outdoor wedding taking place at The Club----bbbrrrrrr! It was NOT nice out there but music was quite pleasing to the ear.
*
Sundays are so enjoyable, restful especially when there are no football games to watch. Busy as can be the first part of the day, and then restful the balance. This a.m. I went to Victory for Bible study and worship, arriving just in time for the class to begin. We had a nice group assembled for class, where we were studying the institution of the Lord's Supper with His disciples at Passover. I sat next to a former member of G. S., Lisa, whose family has been attending Victory and today became members there. When Pastor asked a few questions and no one else answered, I did. Lisa leaned over and whispered, "Teacher's pet!" We laughed---just like old times!
*
Before worship began this Palm Sunday, all the worshipers gathered outside the door where we were given palm branches. I read through the service folder and speculated out loud to Amanda standing near me, "I wonder what Justin will think of this..." We were keeping our eyes peeled for him as I was as far from the parking lot as I could be, and Donnie suggested I get up on the bench so I could see. That made me laugh, just picturing that scene, and here came Justin. He said he did not see my car in the parking lot but heard my laugh across it! Ooops! When he got his branch he asked if I was okay with this and I said it would be fine, just nothing I'd ever done before. We had a spoken give and take outside with Pastor before proceeding into the church with our branches, singing "All Glory Laud and Honor". We placed our branches near the altar area and then went to our seats. Not disorderly. At G.S. the Youth Group kids were making crosses from palm branches which were pinned to the congregation's blouses and jackets.
*
There were two little ones baptized today, one a student in their VPK and his sibling. Or it might be the other way around, and their mom was confirmed and became a member today as well. Twenty people total were added as members and the church was a full house, or nearly so. VPK parents and family were there too as the kids sang, after which there was applause by many. The daughter and three grandchildren of my BFF became members today as well, but not her hubby, although he was there. Pastor said he had a great conversation with them at Gordy's funeral and later, at Bible study that week, included them in his closing prayer. That prayer was answered today! And two more souls receiving the promise of salvation at the font....
*
Usually Justin joins his friends for brunch when he gets out of church and they are done with football, but today, he was going to help his father pack some more stuff. He did have time to enjoy a quick lunch before going to work. We went first to Panera on Fleming Island but the line was out the door so we opted for Steak 'n Shake just down the road. I love their mini-burgers and Justin had a big ole burger of some sort plus one of my minis. Walgreens had a deal on Diet Coke so I stopped there on the way home to stock up. While there I also looked for my chocolate crosses but had to settle for some smaller versions incorporated into a greeting card. They will do. On the way from Victory to Fleming Island, I encountered a traffic jam, rare for a Sunday afternoon. It seems that a man with a walker toppled into the lane of traffic and vehicles had stopped in the two right lanes to assist him. As I crept by in the left lane, I saw someone had placed a towel or pillow under his head as others were around him to lend aid. A small white truck pulled into Aron's Pizza and the passenger door flew open, a young women dressed all in blue went running back to the scene. I am guessing she was in the medical field and knew how to help. The scene made me sick/sad and glad at the same time, because I felt so terrible for the man. Justin said he saw him when he came through before me but the man was seated on the walker bench and not walking. I wonder if he was dizzy or something. Hopefully he will be okay...
*
One of the things I did to 'prep' for my tests the other day was to shave my legs. Gross! Well, I now have the worst razor burn to deal with and nothing is helping. Not even scratching until they bleed helps. No lotions, liquid Benedryl, or anything rubbed on, helps. I wish it was warm enough to go walk in the ocean to make it all better. I should just use a tweezer the next time to get it over with. Yikes! We have no Monday Bible study these next three weeks so it worked out well that my friend, LeAnn, called Saturday to make plans for a lunch. I am meeting her tomorrow at Aron's Pizza to catch up on news and just hang out together. Maybe it will be nice enough to sit outside...
*
My downstairs neighbor is a trained pianist, home from college where she majors in music, and was providing the most delightful concert earlier. They were a bit surprised to hear that I can hear their piano up here, evidently the neighbor below them must be very quiet or not musically inclined! He is well into his 70's and likely quite quiet! I have some mailings to address and stamp so I had better get at that before it gets too dark to see. Or, I could do like I did last night and actually go sit in the family room! Yes, I did, two nights in a row....shall I make it three???

The morning after....

....The Blind Side. We loved it and Twila, true to her word, did not give away any of the 'good' parts or anything, since she was the only one of the four of us who had seen it. Judy C., whom Justin refers to as my BFF, came, as did Twila and Martie. Judy J. was also invited and expected but was a no-show for some reason. I am going to guess she perhaps forgot! No worries, more Papa Murphy's Chicago-style pizza for us! Even with four of us eating off the family-sized pie, there were still four slices leftover, two of which I sent home with Martie! Filling! A dish of fruit accompanied the pizza and I even made a batch of cookies using Papa Murphy's cookie dough, which I also sent home with Martie.
*
So, now, to The Blind Side....Wow, I loved it, we all did. When I had first invited Judy C., she leapt at the opportunity to see it at long last, and when we finished watching it, determined this would be one to buy. Twila, who had seen with our 'group' around Christmas time, was going to rent it before I asked if she wanted to come and said she might have to go buy this one for her collection. I think we have a winner! The movie, based on the true story of the Touhy's and Michael Oher, was well done and incredibly heart-warming. Leigh-Ann, played by Sandra Bullock, was a no-nonsense woman who was not to be deterred. I told the ladies that she really reminded me of my friend, Brenda W.! Especially when it came to her children, all of them. At one point her snooty lady friends were sort of 'teasing' her for taking on this 'social project' and she nicely got up from the table and left, picking up the tab for their luncheon. So there!
*
Justin has watched it over and over, telling me to watch for certain things that he knew were going to be triggers for me, including the Thanksgiving scene, which brought tears. And, the 'bedroom' scene where, for the first time in his life, this 16-year old boy has not only his own room, but an actual bed to sleep on. His 'mom' would never let him see her cry so after these poignant events, would go into her room or go sit in the car. She had described him as being an onion, having to peel away his layers to get to his background, and she was an onion with peels of sentimentality. Michael peeled away her layers....Go! Buy this movie!
*
Well, I survived my overnight fast, which I feel slightly embarrassed discussing since my sister was prepping overnight for a much more 'involved' test Friday. I can handle no soda or food, with my hands tied behind my back, compared to what she was doing. Some say it is not so bad while others hated the entire process. Guess it is different for each individual and by the way, Jill did fine and came out with a clean bill of health, among other things! She was hungry for a juicy hamburger when she was doing her prep, likely because that was one thing she had to forgo for a few days. Today she can resume normal dining so she might have her burger. I recommend the Quarter-Pounder from McDonald's since they do not have a Hardee's any longer in Manitowoc.
*
I should have left earlier for my Life Line Screening appointment but it was not a problem that I was a couple minutes late. Once I completed the paperwork, I chatted at the table with another lady there for her check-up. She was Mom's age and told me that her doctor said they won't send her for these tests until AFTER a heart attack and she did not want to wait for that to happen. So she chose LLS to have herself checked out. In talking with her, it seems more an insurance decision than the doctor's decision, which she agreed. So she took her own "insurance" by having it checked out in advance. Me, too!
*
When I was called behind the screens, the first order of business was the blood work. At the desk, the nurse pricked my finger and squeezed out a few drops of blood into a thin tube which she placed in a little machine on her desk. Checking my blood pressure and heart rate was next, and then the dreaded scale and height measurement. Yikes! It seems I have lost some weight since the beginning of the year, which is fine, but I measured at nearly 5' 1"----what??? I have never been taller than 5' tall and now I am growing taller? Wonderful! I will guess that she took into account my hair or something, which made me glad I'd gotten my hair cut or I'd be 5' 4"!!!
*
Back at the desk, she realized that, for some reason, my blood didn't work....what? I told her it was because I had no soda yet that morning. She asked her co-worker if she should send me around for the rest of the tests or re-do the blood work, and the lady said to re-do the blood. Dana was more upset about wrecking my nail polish when pulling the first band-aid off than about having to re-do the test. I told her I have more polish at home and these were home-grown nails. She had the other kind, quite ornate and lengthy. Finally she got me on the table for the Doppler testing in my arms and legs. After she did them, Tiffany and she stood at the counter awhile, looking at the machine. Oh, oh! Since I did not hear the rescue squad come roaring up, I figured there was another problem with the operator and not me! As she was listening to my heart beat through the Doppler thingy, it made the swishing sound like an ultra-sound. I told Dana it was taking everything in me NOT to ask if it was a boy or a girl. She looked at me a bit strangely (really???) and I said, "I suppose you have heard that one before...." and she said, "No". What is the matter with people that they don't even ask????!!!!
*
Well, as I lay there, waiting, Tiffany told Dana to start on the man on the table next to me, someone I knew from the networking group I was involved in years ago. Tiffany came over to my table and told me she was re-testing me, which she did in a flash. I think, guessing here, that perhaps this was Dana's first day or first week, causing quite the back-up in the waiting area. I had to go sit back at the table between tests where I found Kathy B. sitting. They seemed to be about a half hour or longer behind schedule, probably my fault! Next I was called into the other room where another team quickly and efficiently did the testing of the aortas in the abdomen, neck, and legs, and out the door I went. When I came out of that room, Kathy B. was still sitting there, drumming her fingers, so I sat down to chat with her some more. She was still waiting when I left, as I had to get out to my car for a soda!
*
The blood work results were given to me immediately when last year they came in the mail with the other results. They all look good, only one of the cholesterols coming in borderline, thank the Lord! I liked it better in the days before there was cholesterol, didn't you? I heard a man at Weight Watchers say once that, when he was a kid, they didn't have cholesterol, and if they did, they fried it!!!! Yeah!
*
Earlier in the week Janet had asked me to send a reminder to the members via e-mail about the bake sale and yard day, which I am glad to do. I sent out the reminder, putting down the start time for the Yard Day on Saturday at 9:30....A little while later the phone rang with Renee on the other end, asking if I was trying to kill her. Yes, I am....NO, why? Evidently the Yard Day was being held on Friday instead of Saturday this year, so quickly quickly I sent out a correction which hopefully all got and adjusted their schedules. I do fear, however, that even fewer people will show on a week day than a weekend, but Renee claimed the 'Ladies' Group' wanted it on a Friday. I am part of that group and so is Judy C. and Twila, and none of us thought it was a good idea. That is what happens being gone for so long! I hope someone besides the two people in Renee's household showed up. Neither Kathy nor I were available, even though my getting down and dirty days are behind me. Friday? Really? I do hope that folks will bake for the sale and buy the finished products!!
*
Sunday I am going to miss the Bake Sale by going to worship at Victory. The choir at my church is idle this week so it is the perfect time to go over there. Pastor Hoyer told us Thursday that two little ones are being baptized Sunday, a child from their preschool and her younger sibling. Their mom is going through the Bible Information Class right now, too. Victory has the VPK program, sponsored by the State I believe, and has a full house. Their hope is to add classrooms and grades very soon. So, anyway, not only will there be the baptisms but another 20 members will be welcomed, either by transfer or confirmation. Wow! Another time when I was there, 23 people, including children, were welcomed as members. I told Justin he missed his chance, he should have transferred his membership and joined with this large group. He does not want to be singled out or have a fuss made over him, as they applaud and such after they are welcomed. Justin does not like the 'ado', but this time, he could have just blended in. I will let Phil know that so the paperwork could be in process and just ease Justin's name into the next larger group of new members.
*
Last night was a lovely bright moon reflecting on the river, which was relatively peaceful. This morning it is quite windy, I can hear it plus can see the palm trees being whipped about. The river holds about three boats visible to me from this vantage point of my bed but not with sails up. Justin is busy these coming days helping pack up his father's household as a move is pending before the end of the month. He was going to come over to hook up my cable boxes which were to have been delivered yesterday (Comcast was a no-show!), but said he was going to be too busy. No worries, except that the TV stations keep going off the air and then coming back, and I missed my "Selling New York"!!!!! I want the new boxes and such before next Thursday and that's it!

Time with my friend, Judy R.

My sister, Lynn; Judy R., me, and Lori, another sister
*
When I was in Holmen visiting Lori with Lynn, we had the opportunity to meet Judy R. for lunch. Judy works in a school until noon so had to drive over to LaCrosse from Winona, MN to meet us. We arrived at the same time and enjoyed our lovely catch up meal. Judy, if you recall, had gone the week earlier to the restaurant thinking that was our date. It was just a trial-run for this lunch! Our original plan was to spend the afternoon together but Judy had errands and such to run prior to her granddaughter's birthday party. It all worked out anyway since Lori had a physical therapy appointment after lunch. At least I have the picture of us all together to cherish!

Counting the minutes....

.....until I watch a TV show! That almost never happens, when I am 'excited' about watching a TV program but this one is special. It is a show on HGTV called "Selling New York", where Realtors try to sell properties in The Big Apple! It actually came on the air a week ago but I missed the first episode by mistake. This is something I am looking very much forward to. Love that Big Apple!
*
Tonight at some point I will begin my fasting, while my sister, Jill, is preparing for a far more exciting test which she will undergo tomorrow. My other sister, Lynn, is taking a day of vacation so she can be Jill's driver and extra set of ears, if needed. I, on the other hand, will be just fine driving myself there and back for my LifeLine Screening in the morning. Because I asked to have the additional blood work done, fasting is required. Oh wait, I think I would need to fast for the abdominal aorta testing being performed. Whatever, fasting is fasting and already I don't like it! Not so much the avoiding food but also the not drinking, i.e. soda!!
*
This morning was our Bible study at Victory, by 'our' I mean Justin and me. Pastor was back today and I asked him the question about what Noah's address was before the Great Flood. All he could really tell us was that at the time of Noah and the destruction of the earth, Noah lived in the 'cradle of civilization' which could have gone as far south as Egypt and as far north as where the Garden of Eden is thought to have been. So, to answer the question, we do not know where Noah set sail from nor how far he floated, not sailed, during the Flood. Pastor said we can all watch the DVDs of the Flood when we get to heaven---ha!
*
The class was very interesting today, although it was funny, when we first began. Justin asked me if he should go to my car to get the right books....I had brought in the previous study's books and had accidentally tossed the correct ones when I cleaned out my car the other day. Rats! Bonnie had a couple extra books to give us and we were able to give one back because Justin does not take notes. Justin did a lion's share of reading today and I did a lesser amount than he did. We are studying the Apostles' Creed, it's various statements, and it really causes one to pay closer attention to what we pray every time.
*
Justin and I went to lunch, with me getting to choose where we dined---Mimi's! I had half of my meatloaf sandwich and he had his usual jambalaya. We each took a box for our food while we shared an order of bread pudding. I brought part of that home, too! So I now have a partial stromboli, some of my chicken tenders from Monday, and half a meatloaf sandwich to enjoy after my fast!
*
It is raining now, as predicted, with the weather supposed to be clearing up in time for Yard Day at church tomorrow. I sent out a reminder e-mail as requested about the Yard Day on Saturday and the bake sale on Sunday but Renee called me to say it was Friday and not Saturday----oooops! I am not sure what kind of turn-out there will be on a workday/weekday but I know I cannot make it due to my appointment. I sent out a correcting e-mail right behind the first one and hope that no one is too mixed up about it. My plan was to buy a flat of flowers to be planted around the sign where Timmy's memorial pieces are resting but now I do not know if I will have a chance...
*
...as I have to be here earlier in the morning to get my new cable 'tools' which are being distributed by Comcast and I have to be here personally to receive mine. Which explains why the TV station keeps going in and out with some regularity. Supposedly the new boxes or receivers we get tomorrow will help with the signal and since I have not been able to get the Preview Channel or the local weather station, and now, yes, HGTV (ugh!!!!), which means I cannot see my show! Quick, I need the box! Also, supposedly the boxes are at no additional charge and that had better be the truth!
*
Ooooh, add lightning to the fun now! Our first thunder and lightning storm with rain in 2010. I really do hope that the rain will not affect the Yard Day and I do hope people show up!
*
I had such a nice day today overall. After leaving Justin at Victory again after lunch, I went in to use the bathroom before driving back to Orange Park. Originally I had suggested that we stop at Publix to get postage stamps but told Justin I would get them myself later. I sure did not want him late for class! I stopped at Winn-Dixie where a young man was out gathering carts. When he spotted me, he called out, "Hello, gorgeous! Are you going to sing for me today?" He was the bagger who was working the day I could not stop myself from singing "One Less Bell to Answer", which was playing over their Muzak a couple months ago. I guess he remembers me!
*
I checked our their full meal special. It sounded good at first: spiral-cut ham with free dinner rolls, mac' n cheese, ice cream, and soda. BUT the hams were all so big and almost all close to $30. Nah, not for non-Honey Baked Ham. I did get some cut fruit for tomorrow night's Dinner and a Movie and some berries to serve on shortbread, which I already have in the freezer. And the stamps! As I was checking out I asked the young man how many stamps came on a card, and then told him I needed three cards of stamps. He said, "You must be sending alot of letters...." and I told him I was doing two mailings for my church, requiring the stamps. They are just so engaging at Winn-Dixie and good to their customers----but, I am still a dyed-in-the-wool Publix shopper! They have Muzak, too, you know!

Is it 6 weeks already?

Tonight we had our final midweek Lenten service with only a handful of people in attendance. Mike, the Staff Minister, led the worship so it went pretty quickly when the sermon is read rather than preached. He does a good job when he takes the helm. We had choir rehearsal afterward, getting two pieces, one a new piece, for Easter. Yikes! Not really much time to rehearse before Easter! Kathy B. has much confidence in us, it seems.
*
About 5:30 my phone rang bringing me Suzanne who wanted to know if I would meet her for dinner. Sure! We tried a new place, for me, right on the way to church called "Bassils" where I ordered the smaller of two sizes of stromboli. Small??? Not by a stretch...it was huge and more than enough for two of us, which is what he thought we were going to do, share it. Suzanne really loves their gyro sandwiches and I think I might have to try one the next time. Justin would enjoy it, too. On the wall is a map of Italy but behind the counter was a poster of Jerusalem. Suzanne said she has asked him what their nationality is and the answer she got was 'Mediterranean', which is likely a safe answer. The women she has seen there wear berkas around their heads but not covering their faces. Definitely Mediterranean!
*
We finished our meal and conversation (not really...) in time to make it to church, being about the first half dozen to get there. I invited Judy C. to join us for Dinner and a Movie on Friday and when I told her the name of it, she was all in! The Blind Side will be featured and I think I will get the Chicago Deep Dish pizza from Papa Murphy's. Judy C. loves it and offered me her frequent shopper card. I think I will secure my own frequent shopper card so I can earn the discounts, too!
*
Judy J. came to pick me up for our lunch with Linda O. and her mom, but when I came downstairs I met my friend and neighbor, Ellen. Oh, it was so wonderful to see her again, it has been a long winter!! She told me she 'accidentally' bought a new car and was taking her friend out for a ride. Only Ellen could accidentally buy a car! It is a Lexus but that is all I know about it. As Ellen and I stood there talking, along came Jessica with the newborn in his stroller. Poor Judy had to wait while I greeted Jessica, too, and fuss over the baby. Ellen made me laugh when she used the "Seinfeld" line, "You've got to see the bayby...." So funny! That clip is from "The Boyfriend" which Pete showed us when we visited them in Morton Grove several years ago. I refer to it as 'the second spitter' episode involving Keith Hernandez. You've got to see the bayby....(I do not know how else to write the inflection, Brooklyn, I think....)
*
Judy and I arrived at the China Buffet two seconds before Linda and Frieda. Linda was not feeling well, has a head cold or perhaps allergies acting up, so ordered from the menu instead, getting hot tea and hot 'n sour soup to open her sinuses. It worked! The rest of us enjoyed the buffet and its bounty but I only got one plateful. Frieda went up about three times, I think, as did Judy. We heard about the wedding and the activities surrounding it. Frieda said she was glad when it was over because she said that was all she has heard about for three weeks! I told her she sounded like my mom who gets upset when things drag on too long, like elections or sporting events, etc. Frieda was about as spry as ever although she has complaints about her hearing, saying she spent good money on four different hearing aids but nothing helps. She misses much of the conversation but jumps in when she wishes to. I will see them again on Sunday as I am planning to attend Victory this week.
*
This morning was spent on the computer, the desktop, because I needed to e-mail something over to church for an Outreach mailing. It takes a while to fire the big computer so as long as it was on, I kept working on that machine. I was up and dressed, working on the poster for the scholarship, putting the finishing touches on it. The folks who own the UPS Store agreed to do the printing and even thought they could have it to me on Sunday!!! Now THAT is customer service!

"Your feet are terrible!"

The joy has returned to my life, to my week, actually as once more I was back in the kindergarten classroom having lunch with the 'guys' today. The only little girl was out today so it was just me and boys. I got there a little early as Laurie was having the kids read what they had written. Always interesting to see and hear what they wrote, or attempted to write. They are just so darn cute!
*
As we sat around the table, me on my 'big' chair and them on their little ones, little William announced that he has never sat next to me before. A first! After I helped get their bottles opened or tore a cheese stick open, we enjoyed our lunches. It always fascinates them what I bring, even if it is just a simple cheeseburger and a Route 44 Diet Coke. William asked me how many rings I have and I showed him there was one on each hand, one for my anniversary and the other from my son, Justin. He asked, "Is that the son that fell in the pool?" No, this was my older son, I told them, who is friends with their uncle Robbie. Then he asked me who did my nail polish and I told them all that I did it myself but MUST get my toes taken care of because they look terrible. Of course, they wanted to see but I refused to show them, saying I cannot go to the pool with them looking like this. We talked a bit more around the table, about the most offbeat subjects (I should write them down!) and then Brant piped up, "Your feet are terrible!" at which point I roared with laughter, in full agreement. That must have really struck something in him. The boys like to show me their wiggly teeth and who has grown-up teeth and whose grandpa did not take good care of his teeth so he has fake ones....No such thing as a secret around little kids!
*
We went out for recess where it was a perfectly lovely day and I watched the kids play or whatever you want to call it. Sometimes they run from one end to the other or they hang on the equipment or swing their jackets around and hit each other in the face....It never ceases to amaze me how they can run full throttle from one end to the other and totally wipe out, often face first into the dirt. Not tripping over anything on the ground, just piling it up like a new puppy does when it runs and falls--boom! One boy, Akele, fell down so hard that his legs flew up and his shoe went airborne! And no injuries....imagine that!
*
After recess I turned them back over to their teacher and went into the church office where I worked on the outreach newsletter and its duplication thereof. I had some formatting to do which was difficult due to Word program being older and the commands in different places. Eventually I got it printed and duplicated, ready to go. But wait! Just as I was about to leave, Pastor asked me if we could go over the scholarship fund poster I was working on for an area student at Luther Prep. Sure....He made a couple suggestions which were easy to make and we came up with an idea of how to get them printed, since the paper we wish to use is too large for our machinery. We have a couple in our congregation who own a UPS Store and they might be able to help us out.
*
After leaving church, I headed to Wal*Mart again to get my movie, The Blind Side. Thankfully Justin called to remind me that it came out because I had looked yesterday but they were not out. I also got a bag of potatoes as I had forgotten them when there Monday. Finally I was on my way home again, with bags in tow. No time for a nap though as it was nearly time to go meet with Martie at La Napolera. Only time for a rest and listening to the radio before heading out.
*
This morning when I woke up to geese honking again, I realized my neck was so awfully itchy, like it does after my haircut. When I looked at my pillows, they were totally full of whiskers from my hair. That does it---off came the sheets and pillow cases and the pillow protector which also had hair on it. How did it get through the pillow case??? I got the washer going and went in to take my shower, to find my sink all messed up with whiskers, just like someone shaved in there. From now on, I will have Barb wash my hair before I leave, which she normally does, only I did not want to keep her from her next client. Who would have thought a hair cut would make such a mess? I asked that question last night, too!
*
I went in to change the washer over and those sheets were in such a tangled mess, I could not help but think of my sister, Lynn. She would never stand still for such a tangled, twisted bundle of wet sheets, she would have been appalled. They look like they were in a terrible battle inside the machine. Lynn hangs her sheets outside on the lines to dry so they would not be so wretchedly twisted and wrinkled. They fare much better in the dryer for some reason but do not smell like fresh air like Lynn's do. It is nice to sleep in fresh, clean bed without any whiskers in it!
*
Besides my fine time spent with the kindergarten kids and with Martie, I also got a wonderful message from Linda J. early this a.m. It seems when they had their staff devotions before the start of school and work, they sang "In Christ Alone", and it made her think of me! And then she sent me the brief message which started my day on such a high note---"Here in the power of Christ I stand"!

"Jerry, my rods and cones are all messed up!"

Does any one besides me simply LOVE the TV commercial with the little boy and his dad dunking Oreos together, with his dad halfway around the world? It makes me smile, sadly, thinking about how they are together without being in the same room, doing this seemed ritual of dunking Oreos. *Sigh*
*
A short while ago I had a phone call from Judy J., calling to commiserate a bit and to discuss a luncheon invitation we both received. Our shared friend, Linda O., asked us to meet for lunch one day this week with her mom, Frieda, and her. Her mom lives in Minneapolis and comes down for several weeks every winter, this time with a wedding thrown in. Linda's daughter, Lisa, was married last weekend, and which, according to Linda, "went off without a hitch...". Wait, what kind of wedding is that, with no hitch??? I missed the wedding shower which took place the first weekend I was gone to WI but they went ahead without me. It will be great to see Frieda again and I promised to bring my camera so I can take a picture of her to show Mom.
*
For supper tonight I ate my leftovers from Aron's Pizza, the balance of the stromboli from last Friday. I also reheated the marinara sauce, making sure this time I had a cover on the container so I would not mess up my microwave again. This afternoon I went to get my haircut and it feels so much lighter up there on my head. When I got out of the chair, Barb had to take first the hair dryer to blow the little whiskers off of me and then brushed me rigorously all down the back of my legs to get the loose hairs off. Who would think it would be such a mess to get one's haircut!
*
Before going to the booty shop I stopped at Wal*Mart to pick up a prescription and a few other things. Somehow or another I found myself out of butter! Oh, the horror! I also got some cut up onions to use in making Suzanne's delicious green bean recipe. Unfortunately I could not find my chocolate crosses that I usually buy for Easter, and the lady stocking the shelves, her first time doing it, said she had not seen any this season. She said they are not getting as much candy for the holidays like they used to. I wonder if Walgreens might have the crosses. When I was looking for them, I could not help but remember the time I bought them and then went to Great Hang Ups for a visit. The sun was hot and melted my chocolate into globs. I had to go back and buy them again, so no more going visiting on the day I buy the crosses or, if I do, must take them in with me. No worries right now about them melting since it was drizzly and overcast again today.
*
This morning was Bible study at church, with only seven of us there. Twila had a medical appointment this a.m. but came by church so she could go to lunch with us. Evidently there had been conversation last week or so about going to the Olive Garden but we ended up at Longhorn. It was good to have my standard fare of chicken tenders, with mashed potatoes, for a change. I did not really care for the mashed but will remember that for next time. It was also wonderful to be around the table with my lady friends again and will hate it when we are recess for Holy Week, Easter, and the Pastor's Conference. I told Pastor I was going to starve!!! He did, however, invite us to the church at Keystone Heights for the Conference because the author of "The Theology of the Cross", Deutschlander, is going to be presenting. I told Pastor how I started reading the book and was enjoying it greatly so he suggested I come hear the author and what he has to say. I think I might and will take others with me if they wish to go. Pastor is going to post the schedule so we know when to go out. I made them laugh when Pastor said Deutschlander was going to speak both days and I said I would have to get a hotel room if I was going to hear him both days! Perhaps I should just sleep in my car or drive the two hours round trip......
*
Finally I have my laundry put away and have two empty baskets in the hallway. Of course, there is a fresh pile to be laundered in the closet but it will keep. The baskets need airing! Tonight, while watching/listening to one of favorite of all time "Seinfeld" episodes, "The Roaster", I dusted the furniture and such in the dining room. Now it smells nicely of lemon although it seems the can in nearly empty. The living room will be next, perhaps tomorrow if the spirit moves me. My bathroom vanity and such needs polishing as well, I am still having red/purple lint on the vanity and even on the mirror. That is without me wearing that nasty sweater since the end of January!!! It is just hanging there and still is making a mess. A plastic bag might be the answer to that lint problem. I showed CJ Banks who is boss----I did not set foot in their store on my visit to WI and Minneopolis! So there!

A goofy weather day

This morning it was gloomy and overcast, quite a contrast to yesterday's start. Before church began, people were coming in wet with raindrops! Spring showers! And it rained nearly all day, ending right around four p.m. Now, the sky looks decent with some grey and pink clouds layered below blue sky. And it is still light outside, which I like!
*
Waking and watching the news this a.m. and again in the afternoon was like biting on a sore tooth and finally I just had to look away. Ugh! As hard as it is to believe, we must now brace for government-run medical care. As one Congresswoman assured today, we should have no fear because (paraphrasing) "the task forces will be put in place to 'educate' people and help them live a healthier lifestyle." Oh great! Life as I know it is over!
*
It was interesting in Bible study this morning as we continue our study of the civil world and the Christian, how we live according to the laws of the land, unless they would be in direct opposition to what God's Word says. We had some lively discussion and questions today, not even touching the sensitive subject facing our nation today. We have some learned people in our congregation, some of them teachers, and I must say that I learned much in class this morning.
*
Kathy B. played our pre-service music and Suzanne accompanied on our congregational singing and the liturgy, Divine Service 1. We sang several hymns from the supplement including two which the choir helped along. Thankfully Pastor had the congregation glance at "Draw Near" before the service began so they knew to turn the page....last time it was a disaster because the cong. did not know it was three pages long and that they needed to turn the page. The choir was at the communion rail and could not help out so this time, it went perfectly.
*
While the choir was singing "Draw Near", the congregation was taking the Lord's Supper including those who sat in the back row. One lady is quite elderly and unsteady on her feet, yet chooses to sit in the back. Today an older man helped her back to her pew, holding her hand and guiding her along. It just struck me as so touching and kind, and brought tears which made it VERY hard to sing for a moment. Carol touched my shoulder because she, too, was moved by it. It sure does not take much to get me these days....When I spoke to Bill about it after church, he said, "Oh, no, she was helping me...." in typical 'Bill' style. Usually Brian is her escort but we were busy singing so she had to rely on another man!
*
Oh, it was so good to see the rest of the family today, at least now I have seen most of them. One couple is visiting in South Dakota having left here before I did. Darwin's brother is quite ill and I guess they are staying until the end. Hopefully they are not in the flooding areas. Their last trip had them nearly snowbound in VA when they watched their grandson graduate from the Coast Guard Academy a couple months ago.
*
Poor Martie really has her hands full with her family. Her daughter-in-law and the grandkids are leaving for AZ soon if not already; her other son has a degenerative disease in the MD family and not faring well; and her little grandson, Mark, presently has a blood infection or something. He was staying at her house this weekend and she thought he would join us for our outing but since ManMan wasn't feeling well, he stayed home with his grandpa. Martie and I are shooting for Tuesday now if nothing else falls apart around her!
*
Night fell since I began this posting. The grey has taken over the sky! No boats in sight but earlier, after the rain stopped, I did see a few dotting the waters. Today in Bible study the subject of lottery winners came up, when we were discussing settling inheritances and such. It brought to mind something a dear young man in my life said to me at lunch last week....This young man often talks about 'what ifs' concerning the lottery, always coming up with 'big' ideas of what to do with his landfall. This time it was not to install central air conditioning for his cousin or have a security system put in her house, or not buying a pipe organ for our church. Nope, this time, he wants to take all the WELS members on a trip to Lutherland!!!!! Maybe I am missing the boat by not buying lottery tickets if that is what a person can do with the winnings. I love the idea, however, and tried not to make a fuss over it. Good for him, and good for us all if he wins!

Spring has sprung!

As one of my Facebook friends identified it, today is the Verna Equinox...I wrote that I think I went to school with Verna! Happy first day of spring! It seems that the day is going to be quite lovely with the sun beaming into my room making it nice and toasty in here. At long last, it is warm in my room without my intervention.
*
I am listening to the radio and the TV, following all the junk going on today in the nation's capital regarding the take-over of what's left of our lives by the government. Even my friend, Judy R., who listens to public radio and does not normally follow these type of things reported tuning in to Rush to hear what is going on. The slight of hand and arm twisting going on in order to get the votes needed to slide this debacle through is dizzying, to say the least. So much horse-trading and deal making, backroom deals, etc. I hope and pray that reason will prevail and this take-over is stopped one way or another. We will have to become very cozy with our elected officials in case we need a surgery or treatment because they will be the ones approving or declining our medical care....perhaps an exaggeration but maybe not for long!
*
Before bed last night I took care of the some of the laundry in one basket so now my room is decorated with stacks of folded items to be put away today. Such a process! Some of the things are towels and such from when Lynn and Linda were here, layered on the bottom of the basket. When I was at Lori's, David presented me with a pennant featuring Maurice Jones-Drew plus a sort of holographic trading card with MJD on it. His company produces these things and when he sees them come through, prototypes and such, he saves them for me. The pennant is rolled up yet and now buried under a stack of towels and wash cloths for the guest rooms so I had better set it free some time today.
*
Somehow I must stimulate myself enough to take care of the dusting in my rooms today as I can use my buffet in the dining room as a message board. At some point I am getting together with Joanne for the rest of the envelopes but this a.m. she is busy at her church planting flowers right now. Oh, my! It just occurred to me that today is Easter4Kids at my church. I had better get dressed and over there to take photos! I hope they did not count on my help for anything...I did not sign up since I was gone, and expected to be gone right now according to my original plans. Yikes! The dusting and laundry can wait, I have to get to church!!!

A glorious day!

Even though I had to drop too much money for new tires (with an oil change thrown in!) and new wipers, it was a wonderful day! First order of business was to stop by Edward Jones to drop off something and I had a nice chat with Debbie. She was alone in the office so we could sit and chat without interruption from the boss, Frank. We had a good chuckle, too, because I accidentally set off my car alarm when I was getting out of the car, as I was reaching down to pick up a plastic cup from the floor and leaned on the panic button on my keys! No matter what, I could not sneak up on Debbie!
*
From her office I went down to the cemetery to check on things, since I had not been there since before I left for WI. It was quite busy today, tents were set up in various spots with one committal service taking place not far from Timmy's site. I saw a couple ladies walking around, looking at the grave sites, as I sat down on the bench. One of the ladies, Helen, came and sat next to me, saying her sister knows the child's parents. I said, "Well, I am his mom" and here came Dorothy! Helen, Dorothy, and another sister were at the cemetery sprucing up their mom's marker and that of Helen's daughter, killed in a car wreck three years ago. Helen said that Dorothy and she would often come over and visit Timmy's site and today they were fortunate enough to find me there! Dorothy is married to one of our former superintendents, Scotty, who knew Timmy and attended the service, sitting with the rest of the family/staff at the church. I was quite touched to know that others thought enough of Timmy and us to go visit his site periodically. They asked about the bench, how and where we got it, and I told them how the marble under the marker was special ordered from our contractor in WI.
*
We four ladies talked at some length, mostly about available property, when I told Dorothy and the others where I live. They got quite excited because only the day before Helen mentioned that she would like to live at Club Continental!! How ironic they run into me today! I told Helen about the units in my building and those on the compound with waterfront views. If they had not just eaten a late breakfast, we could have come over here to have lunch at The Club and look at my place, to whet her appetite. Good thing they did not come because my house needs a good dusting and I have wash baskets in my bedroom....
*
When we parted company, I went to get my new tires at Sun Tire, next door to Aron's Pizza. It seems that my car has anything but 'ordinary' tires, hence, an extraordinary purchase! Justin's tires cost just over $500 and I expected mine to be about the same but it seems that is not the case. My 'deal' came with lifetime tire replacement if they are destroyed and lifetime rotate/balance for the tires. Oooh, I HATE those type of things but I surrendered and bought the extra coverage. UGH! Having the oil change thrown in softened the blow a bit but I still feel slightly victimized, as often happens at the hands of those who take care of our cars! When checking out, I asked the guy at the desk what kind of vehicles actually use the standard tires they sell, and he pointed to a Saturn up on the rack, and said, "That car takes standard...." 'Nuff said, I want the extraordinary ones, thank you!
*
While my car was being work on and I was being worked over (ha, ha!), I was able to enjoy one of Aron's fine Stromboli and read a book. I had forgotten to grab the WI book from my bed but fortunately I had a book in the car from Bible study, "The Theology of the Cross". I have owned it about a year now but was intimidated by it, until today. I am loving it, not too deep a read yet at this point, and it filled me up, more than the Stromboli did. The strom was filling but in an entirely different way. I had to call Linda to tell her about what I was reading but she did not answer her phone. Oh well, it will keep!
*
"Kramer, I tell you, Elaine doesn't know what she's doing!! I'm going to have to take over this whole operation!!!" Poor Jerry is worried about a marathon runner, hoping he does not again oversleep and miss the race. Jean-Paul overslept 4 years ago and missed the Olympics and Jerry is determined not to let that happen again. This episode is called "The Hot Tub" when Kramer inherits a hot tub which he sets up in his living room. I cannot recall if this is before or after he brings home the set from the old Merv Griffin TV show for his living room....
*
My house is smelling good with my supper cooking---meatballs in golden mushroom soup, baked potatoes, and cream-style corn. Mmmm.....this is in contrast to last night's posting about not enjoying cooking. I like to throw something this together and let it do its thing. I can wait...At Aron's I ran into Miss Chardonnay who said the gang might be sitting out tonight since it got nice out today, not quite 70 above but with loads of sunshine. Oh, goodie, sun deck time again! I did take a peek out there and no one was sitting on the deck, but people were being seated on the patio at The Club for a wedding. Very pretty but not quite warm enough for sitting outside on the sun deck.
*
The river had boat activity today and I even saw a jet ski scooting around earlier. It looks so pretty out there with the sun beginning to set, casting a pink hue over Mandarin. The envelopes for Joanne are as done as they are going to be, since I ran about 20 short. Rats! She and I are going to connect some time tomorrow for the rest of the envelopes and perhaps even something to put into them! Hopefully Martie can meet me after work tomorrow so we can 'connect' too over some nacho chips and an adult beverage. I hope so anyway, because I miss her like crazy!!!
