My last day in Manty

Today went by in a flurry!  I was up bright and early as a former school mate of mine asked me to go for coffee this morning.  Yes!, I can do that plus asked her to take me to Festival for the fresh cheese curds. My friend, Wendy, who works there, told me they are fresh on Friday mornings. Debbie picked me up and away we went to McDonalds for our visit. I had soda and she had a gourmet coffee with our hash browns.  Once finished she took me to the store where I grabbed five bags of fresh curds to take with me to FL.  Some people will be so happy to have them!

She dropped me off at mom's where Mom and I watched some TV. Each of us took a little rest as well. In the afternoon Linda picked me up and we met a friend of ours, Joanie, at Perkins for some pie.  Who says no to that?  I hadn't seen Joanie in decades, in person.  She reminded me that I sang for her wedding at First German 42 years ago.  Holy cow!

Our time catching up was great fun, even the waitress got into it with us! Joanie just got back from a trip to Israel and it was fascinating to hear her stories. Joanie's mom and Tommy' s mom were step cousins, both refugees from Russia during the war. Both were wonderful ladies.

Linda and her guests were going to eat perch somewhere so Linda dropped me off once again at mom's.  Tearful good byes were made there as I won't see Linda again for a long time. Or Joanie ever I bet!
Jill took my picture at The Charcoal Grille. Boy, I so badly need a haircut

Mom, Lynn, Jill, and I went to The Charcoal Grille for dinner. Mom and I shared a French dip sandwich which was just right for us both.  I shared onion straws with the table. Delicious! Jill ordered an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms and got a heaping plate of them. It was almost comical seeing that in front of her plus her meal. She took the majority home to have another time.  Lynn had fish and chips which was a huge portion so took most of hers home as well. What a good finish to my two weeks in Manty!  Good night, and good bye!

Getting ready to go home

Boy, time really does fly when you're having fun! I am getting stuff ready to throw into the suitcase to head back home. Just this a.m. my friend, Debbie, took me to Festival for the fresh-from-the-cow cheese curds which go back with me. We first went to McDonald's for a drink and hash browns before she took me to Festival. One more thing crossed off the list of to-dos before I leave Manty. Didn't get to Late's but that happens...too little time and too many meals at home!

Last night I made chicken 'n dumplings for dinner but I didn't partake. Mom, Lynn, and Jill said it was good so I trust them. I wanted to have the queso dip I made for enjoying during the Packer game. And I did enjoy it! More than watching the game, initially. Wow, what a wonderful ending to a dreadful game. Wow!

Yesterday morning Mom treated Lynn and me to a pedicure  at Sassy Nails. The tech did a good job on cleaning off my goofy great toes, having to get extra machinery used for the acrylic nails to clean off the whiteness on them. It was only the 2nd time I'd had that build-up, the first time the salon in Fleming Island claimed it was it was because I had polish on too long. Well, they turned around and put polish right back on. The tech yesterday said nail polish had nothing to do with it, that it was a calcium build-up or something. I was just happy they took care of it for me.

From Sassy Nails we went to Festival so I could get my ingredients for making the queso dip and the other two ladies got whatever they needed.  I struck out getting the type of Velveeta cheese-food Justin uses to make the dip so I bought some in jars. Saved me from having to soften the block cheese in the microwave or on the stove. I would guess it's more expensive this way, but I just was determined to make it, and that's that!

Lynn and I watched the game, which began rather sadly for the Packers and their fans. Oh my, the Lions were having a good time at the Packer's expense. I just don't know what's up with the team this season, and few people do seem to know what the problem is. The receivers can't catch and the running backs were not able to get anywhere. It was frustrating to watch and I nearly went to bed. So glad I decided to stay up and watch the end, the fantastic ending. The Packers won the same way the Jaguars did a few weeks ago, after the official time of play had expired. I was figuratively on the floor in amazement. Aaron Rodgers lofted a Hail Mary pass that was caught, which almost made me think of converting!!!  Wow- again!!! I just love watching football with Lynn, and this visit got to watch three games with her.  One of my favorite parts of the visit for me. Especially for me!  Today I am having pie with Linda and a friend, Joanie, looking forward to that, too!
