Once
in, I located the printed booklet pages and its cover on the shelf where Lynne
stored them for me. I grabbed the stapler and as I was gathering the materials
in my arms, Pastor came in. We greeted
each other and he asked, I thought jokingly, if I was working as the secretary
today. I sort of laughed it off, saying I was working on the booklet. What I
did not know at the time was Lynne had called in sick this a.m. I was not
interested in working in the office, especially since Debbie has been working
along side Lynne for some time already. I had my project to tackle!
Pastor
came into the room where I was working to make coffee and he mentioned how nice
it was to have Justin coming to church with me. It is! He also thanked me for
tackling the project of editing the Time and Talent Sheets and Opportunities
book, saying it was one of those jobs that needed doing but got back-burnered
all the time. I accepted his thanks and then mentioned I was missing the gene
which allowed me to figure out how to print off the booklets and put them
together.
When
talking with Kristi about it at choir the other night, she said I should not
worry about it---that I do things she has no concept about how to do. We all
have a gift or don’t have a gift, as the case might be. I can actually now
staple them together, as the copier puts the pages in the order, switching the
groups of pages together per booklet. I love the guy (or gal) who figured out
how to have the machinery do that for us!
I
did not get finished before Bible study began, so pushed the project into the
middle of the table for finishing up tonight, before Ladies’ Group. Justin was
planning to attend the Young Republican’s meeting with his friend, Sarah, this
evening so we arranged for him to drop me off at church and then go on his way.
As we pulled into the lot, two of the staff members from the preschool were
standing at their cars, talking, so I knew I would have to once more get the
secret keys to let myself into the classroom building. A couple minutes sooner
and they could have gone through the preschool to let me in---rats!
I
have finished the project now, counted out the number that I need to put in the
mailboxes, to match the booklets with the personalized Time and Talent Sheets,
which are at home. I might not load them into the mailboxes until Thursday
night as Mike wants to make an announcement about them on Sunday morning. If I
put them in for Wednesday night, some would have already taken them home and I
would rather they have them in hand for Mike’s little talk. I have to come back
that night anyway for BIC so it’s not a wasted trip.Almost mission accomplished!!
