No longer on the river and, again, an empty nester. Back to living on Fleming Island and making some more friends!

Of course, it's raining!

It is a no-clothes day for me, but it's not as awful as it sounds. Today is one where I go from wearing my night gown to my swimsuit, and then back into my gown. No reason to get completely dressed unless someone calls and says, "Let's go have dinner!" I can get dressed with the speed of a fireman if I have to, but unless that call comes, I am ready to stay in my sleep wear for the rest of the day. We got whistled out of the pool late afternoon due to the sound of thunder. We are patient and can wait for the 30 minutes to pass between thunder rolls, but when it began to drizzle, well, most us just called it a day and went to our respective homes.

No worries, though, as there is plenty to do at my desk, not the least of which is to conquer the stack of mail which accumulated in my absence. Before I left for the Conference I had pretty well gotten the desk cleared off but it doesn't take long for it to be piled full again. Years ago my company had an employee, Rebecca, who just loved to file stuff. I don't understand her preference but sure did appreciate her doing it. Somehow that desire did not visit upon me so my piling system sometimes gets the better of me here. The only area in my life that I allow/tolerate a mess is on my desk. And I do know my A-B-C's, so that's not my problem, ha ha!

Oh, it was so good to see my friends again today. Bob was there and I was glad to give him a hug. He'd been with his daughter's family at a rental house in Ormand Beach so wasn't around either for the pump being out. He would NOT have had something good to say about it, that's for sure. Bob gave me a quick run down of his time away, the good restaurants they found, etc. Fran and Rick were a bit further down the pool edge, and eventually Bill and Nancy M. came out for some relaxation. They are still working on their home, affectionately called The Money Pit, but need some down time from their tasks. Painting is in process inside by Nancy while Bill is working on projects outside. Can't wait to see the finished project. It is soon their one year anniversary of coming to the pool, right around Labor Day. We sure did make fast friends with each other!

Nancy W. did not come out today as she is still feeling a bit punk from her respiratory malady. She has been on the sick list since before I left for WI with various maladies, not the least of which is being kept awake most nights by her noisy neighbor. Nancy said she may as well have a baby and being awakened every two or three hours by a lady who doesn't even realize she is doing it. I miss her, though, so will try to get together another time and catch up on her life, etc. Text messaging just doesn't do it sometimes. When she and I went to breakfast the day before I left, she was expecting to have sold her other home so I hope that did take place. She has so much on her plate!

As I sat at a table talking with some folks, the owner of The Club walked through to the cabana, and then back again. She said 'hello' to a couple people as she walked back again, heading for the gate, but then turned around and came back. She came to where I was seated, welcomed me back, and then said, "Mitch worked late last night to get that pump in for you...." I thanked her for his efforts and said I was quite glad to have it up and running again. And then she left. My table mates wondered what THAT was all about and I just said, "She knows how much I enjoy the pool..." I liked the extra effort put forth to get the pump in and running. I don't mind sharing MY pool with everyone else!
