Martie and I were outside by the pool when the shuttle went up yesterday and we didn't even notice! I knew it was launching at 5:00 p.m. but it sort of slipped my mind until I heard on the news this morning that some debris dropped off of it. My friend, Joan, who I met at Great Hang Ups Saturday morning, said she was trying to persuade Paul to go down south a ways to watch the launch but he wasn't up for it. If I wouldn't have had plans, I'd have gone with her. Paul has never seen a launch and his lived here much of his life.

I love watching them go, probably since the Challenger blew up when we still lived in WI. A drapery installer was at my house that day and together we watched the re-play of it, dumb struck. When we first moved to Florida, our car bore the Challenger license plates. Once when Tommy and Linda came down to visit, near Easter, our van was full as we rode down to Titusville to watch the launch of Atlantis, up close and personal. Mom was there, Jenny J., their daughter, and Justin, a little boy. I remember Tommy videotaping the shuttle going up as tears ran down .......Mom still calls Atlantis "our shuttle".

Jennifer R. wasn't able to join us for the Stampin' Up event last night so only Martie and I went. It was an Open House with many area "consultants" having displays, projects to make 'n takes, showcasing the best and newest tools of the stamping and cropping trade. Martie found something to buy but I refrained. I had taken my stuff along to work on my mother-in-laws' memory album but didn't have a chance to do it, they kept us busy jumping from table to table to make stuff.

After a certain point, both Martie and I were yawning, seems that the fresh air and sunshine tired us out. Glad we didn't try going to the beach and then back for the event! We'd have been pooped! She really enjoyed sitting poolside and even got down into the water, without feeling panicky or hyperventilating. At first, she didn't even notice that she was okay......all of a sudden Martie said, "Hey, I'm in the water and I'm not scared!" Bravo! One step closer to crossing something off her Bucket List!

Speaking of which, The Bucket List comes out on DVD next week Tuesday so I'll be standing at the doors waiting for the store to open to get my copy. I don't purchase many movies unless they are incredibly special to me so this one qualifies. I also own most of those listed in my Profile as being favorites.
From the movie, as the two guys are seated facing the Great Pyramids at Giza: "The ancient Egyptians had a legend....when you die, the gods will ask you two questions: "Did you have joy in your life?" and "Did you bring joy to someone else's life?" How you answer those questions determines if you get into heaven..." Cue the tears, Linda!

Hi, Kim!
You seem to live such an interesting and social life, and in a beautiful place, too!
When and if we ever get a chance to meet in person, watching "The Bucket List" together will be on the to-do list.
LOVE that movie. If you've ever written a blog post specifically about that movie and why it's so special to me, can you link me to it? I'll set out in search of it, too.
Have a wonderful day!
Nest time you are here we will need to watch 27 Dresses together.
Hi Jami!
Yes, it's sometimes busy around here and sometimes not! I just love people, being around others and spreading my wings, and I will take along as many people as I can when I'm soaring! On February 11th, I think, I wrote about going to The Bucket List with my friend, Linda from WI, Martie from here, and my poor son, sitting through the movie with us boo hooing ladies...he is accustomed to it by now. Anyway, it's right around that time frame when Linda was here for the "church secretary's union meeting" as we call it. I used to work in the church office and she does at my home church for over 22 years, and we NEED these meetings several times a year to re-group! Love my Linda! I have a picture of her wearing shamrocks on her head, posted on my home page.
Come, watch the moveie with me!!!
Blessings,
Kim
Kim, you always have such great messages! I did cue the tears today! We took my girls to Madison today, where they will be living now. I think my heart is broken. They were so excited to be in their new home and I was feeling so sad to leave them there. I know they will be very happy, Jenn has a great new job, and the house they are renting is absolutely beautiful and in a great neighborhood. Yet, I was sad so say good bye.
I will also be waiting to purchase the "Bucket List" when it comes out. I want Tom to see it.
thanks for the memory of the shuttle launch. We did have a great time that day!
I can't wait to come visit you and sit by your pool, and watch the sunrise from your "river room"!
Love and hugs,
Linda
