A few quick thoughts before Bible study

Well, the ThanksLiving weekend is over and the games have begun! Almost with a starter's pistol, the store doors swing open and folks launch into shopping mode. I hope no one underestimates the value of recognizing Advent at this time of year, pausing midweek to reflect on the coming of the Savior King. A time to sit back and sigh, "Come, Come, Emmanuel".
*
Some of my non-church friends question my desire, longing for Jesus to come again to take us home, thinking that they couldn't go yet because they want to see their grand kids grow up (or not!), don't want to leave their spouses (or will!), have unfinished business (why not?)...and so on. Short of bursting into song, singing "Jerusalem, the Golden" to them, and all the while trying not to weep, these folks have to be told what glory awaits them, the bliss, the face of God. Does this really, truly hold no meaning for folks, or are they being shortsighted? Or, am I? Commenters, help me out here, please......

Pray that the Lord will draw them unto Himself and open their eyes - plus we can commit our ways to Him and be a light in the darkness . . . just a few thoughts. BTW - the Advent Service was beautiful - thanks for realizing the importance of such a service and taking the time to address all the details!

I often struggle with understanding what others think about these things as well. Knowing what we know about what is to come, it is hard to imagine not looking forward with great anticipation.

From Suzanne:

As for ‘crying over spilled vodka’, let me say… when we stopped for lunch on the go, and gas for the truck yesterday in GA, I carefully balanced drinks with one hand and my chin, and clutched two bags tightly to my chest, as I hurried to the truck in the rain. I handed John the drinks, and as he took those, my bag ripped, and French fries and chicken nuggets went all over the ground by the gas pumps. RATS! John laughed and said.. “you were looking all around, trying to find someone to blame, and it was nobody’s fault! The bags were just wet!” Oh well, it gave the kids a better chance at eating all their lunch, since they most likely wouldn’t have eaten it all, had they both had all 5 nuggets as was originally intended! John and I didn’t really need those French fries, and the kids wouldn’t have eaten all of theirs anyway.

Hi Kathy,

Thanks so much for the kind words about the service! It sure did feel good to rest last night, but it's well worth it!

We do have to pray and consider others who might not have the "big picture" in mind, which we just discussed in Bible study this a.m. See you tonight perhaps?

Hugs,

Kim

Hi Tarren,

Thanks for commenting!

How can we explain properly, clearly, the joy and anticipation we believers feel about what is to come, other than like Kathy B. says, "to let our lights so shine before men....".

Advent is a great time of year to do just that!

Blessings,

Kim

Hi Suzanne,

Love the story about the spilled food! I can just see John teasing you, lovingly, of course, about looking around for someone to blame....we all do that so much, don't we? Ugh! I am so glad to hear you're home safe and sound, but French fry-less, from your camping trip and we'll see you tonight when you get there!

Hugs,

Kim
