Our Monday morning Bible study resumed yesterday with our study about worship, why Lutherans worship as we do. Ethel, Twila and Judy are getting settled in for class. We normally have about 6-7 people in class plus Pastor. Our tree still stands in front of church, devoid of decoration, because after the ladies undressed it, no one (i.e. menfolks) came to remove it from the sanctuary. Oops! I'll see if it is gone tonight when I go to Bible study and if not, make some phone calls to see who is actually in charge of removing the tree. The man whose team put it up is now in the hospital and no longer on the Council so it will probably fall to the "usual suspects" to remove it. One of our members will take it and make an Easter cross from it, but let's get it out of the sanctuary first! Do other congregations have situations like this?
My dear friend, Judy R. in Winona, MN sent these photos taken in her yard over the weekend. This is her lilac bush now dressed for winter, coated with ice and snow. It is hard to picture this same bush wearing bright purples or "lilac" in springtime. Can you imagine this bush trying to shake itself free of the ice in order to push buds out?

One time I wrote an e-mail to Judy about the lovely moon reflecting on the river and she wrote back about that same moon reflecting on her snowbanks. Since then we talk about our "shared" moon. It is sort of the picture of God----the same God watching over me is also watching over her and over our families and our friends and the fields in Winona!

It's funny you mentioned the 'shared moon'. Hanna seems to be obsessed with the fact that "every city has the same moon and the same sun".
I noticed the tree Sunday morning, and asked John if anyone as mentioned to him about removing it. He said, No, and he didn't want to have to do it, as he was one of the few that put it up! Guess what, "honey", it's time to take it down! I thought maybe Cliff would arrange to take it out of there, since Carol usually makes the cross out of it. Is this not the case? Do you want me to "shake John's tree" so to speak??

We are so single-minded, thinking that weather or space serves us alone....glad Hanna realizes her world is whole lot larger than Kinko Springs!
No, don't ask John about it just yet, as perhaps the guys at the Elders and Council meeting made the arrangements to get it gone. Carol doesn't make the Easter tree, though, Lonnie does that, the craftsman that he is. I truly believe that this is one of those countless items that falls between the cracks, with "no one in charge", and so on. Lots of that type thinking going on behind the scenes, shall we say? Thanks for offering though, and tell John thanks for putting it up!

Hi Kim,
I like the pictures of the moon! Tom and I went to Seven Lakes on Sunday night and the moon was shining down on us. I thought of you looking at that same moon over the river. It's so cool to think we are all looking at the moon at the same time. We truly are connected!
Love you lots,
Linda
In so many ways, my dear friend, in so many ways!!!!!
Hugs,
Kim

After reading the Shack, when I see the moon, stars, sunsets, etc., I thank the Lord for making that "picture" just for me . . . because only I am seeing that particular angle and focus using my God-given aperture!
Hi Kathy,
What an interesting take on the moon and stars picture......Did you know Pastor is reading The Shack now? He told us on Monday, and I am anxious to find out what he thinks of it....I might ask him today before the LES meeting!
Hugs,
Kim
Hi Suzanne:
The tree is down, long live the tree!!!
