What a great day today! And a great day yesterday! Linda and I went to The Club to have breakfast Friday morning, but, sadly, Pat could not make it. Shoot! I so wanted these two ladies to meet one another...At least Tina and little Gracie came and shared our morning meal with us. Linda was quite taken with Gracie, as you might imagine. We all dined on the buffet, with plenty of bacon left after the Rotarians had gone through the line.
Tina took a picture of Gracie with her stuffed animal which was brought home for school for her to take care of over the weekend. I asked Tina to take a picture of Linda and me, which she will e-mail at a later date. Mom and daughter were off to Green Cove for story time at the library, and Linda joined me on a jaunt to Fleming Island. Yes, off to see the ladies at Great Hang Ups!
Linda found several items to buy at the shop, including a lovely handpainted silk scarf, earrings which matched it in two different colors (made by the same artist!), a hand-turned stylus for her iPad, and some clay angels made by Julia's husband. She is taking a taste of Orange Park home with her, and wearing it around her neck! It was so wonderful to spend some time with the ladies, plus see them having many customers in and out.
From the Island we went to Beall's as Linda had enjoyed it so much the last time she was here. Linda was looking for a pair of comfortable shoes but was unsuccessful. I did see a pair I like with polka dots on them but not in my size. They were 40% off, too, so I was sad. She found several tops which she will squeeze into her suitcase, and I even bought one for myself. It seems odd to buy summery tops when it's so cold out! Tonight we are expecting to have freezing temps, or close to it---yikes!
Linda wanted to get some raw brown sugar cubes which she had tasted when we went to the Basketique Tea Room. On the way to the shop we had to pass La Nopalera so we stopped in there for a margarita and some chips. I was still full from breakfast and Linda was satisfied with chips and salsa with our adult beverages. When we got to the Tea Room, no diners were in house, which was odd for a Friday. The clerk was able to find the last box of raw sugar cubes for Linda but was out of the muffaletta for me. She said she had just placed an order for it, which has happened more than once with that item.
Linda and I got home around 2:00 pm and I immediately got my ribs into a roaster and into the oven for the Dinner and a Movie planned for that night. Linda snoozed a little bit while I worked at the desk. Still had the Palace Press to get out and the month was closed already! When The Five came on, Linda and I watched in the living room as I ran back and forth getting supper ready. She set the table for us as I took care of things in the kitchen during commercials. I cooked some egg noodles to serve with the ribs plus some mini-cobs. Also baked my free cherry cobbler gotten through the "rock star shopping" at Winn Dixie. Oh my! It was delicious!
The two Judys came over to join us in watching "Trouble with the Curve" which was a really good movie. Hated the course language but it had a good lesson to it. We talked and talked before and after the movie, and I was a happy girl! Even got the hymnal out at one point---the mark of a good night!
