No longer on the river and, again, an empty nester. Back to living on Fleming Island and making some more friends!

More giving of thanks!

On Thursday I had the opportunity to worship at First German on the national ThanksGiving Day. Lynn sang with the choir while Jill, Danny, Mom, and I sat with the congregation. The church band accompanied many of the hymns and it was wonderful to hear them again. They were blessed to have young people 'home' from college to bolster the numbers of the choir and band. Adding the brass and percussion to the pipe organ on these hymns is so beautiful, loved it!

The sanctuary was decorated as well, including this table of bounty.

We went back to Mom's after church because it was too early to go down for the ThanksGiving lunch in the school gym. Lynn's friend, Bonnie, was joining our family at the table. She feared being able to find us in the crowd but was hardly a problem. The high school Federation was involved in this community outreach event and were expecting about 175 diners. There were other congregation members dining but not many besides us. The meal was good, and I truly loved my cherry cheese cake dessert. Even got a piece to go home with me!

It was a quiet rest of the afternoon until it was time for the football game. Sadly, the outcome  was disappointing as the Packers lost yet another game. Something is terribly wrong with them! Or, is the problem with me---spoiled by them usually winning??  I really like getting to watch Packer football with my sister! It was a good day overall, for which I am thankful!
