I slept like a dream last night! What does THAT mean? I am not sure but all I know is that I had a really good sleep. The night before I was wakeful, apprehensive that my teeth would wake me up. I wasn't going to let that happen, so I stayed awake!! Smart!

A raccoon just climbed down from the top of a palm tree across from my window. When the water level is low, as it is now, the "wildlife" on the breakwater is exposed to sight. Why I never noticed the raccoon on the tree before, I don't know. Thursday night when the ladies were here for the dinner, Christie took great pleasure in tossing hamburger buns out to the 'coons. It's a lot further toss than it appears but eventually she scored a ringer and a raccoon had some thing good to eat. He probably asked, "Where's the beef?" Ha ha ha

Having the water low also exposes areas of the breakwater seldom seen. All along the northern edge of the rocks are planks in many lengths, stacked by the water or layered along the base. These boards are not part of the original rock plan at all, in fact, they were put there by Hurricane Jeanne in 2004. Up and down the river (and the lake, I can attest to that!) docks and piers were torn asunder, the debris not always recovered. Well, I know where some of it is! Being the wood is weather-treated, it may live a long time along the breakwater unless, perhaps, the new marina people will take the liberty of removing the trash from the other side of the rocks. Although not too likely, the boards could float free when the water level is right and cause some damage to the boats. This is the argument to use when requesting the developer clean it up!

While waiting around at Wal-Mart yesterday, I took part in people watching, certain they were staring at my fat lip and drooling. Ugh! For some reason, it bugs me greatly to see people, mostly women, attempting to steer their cart (or buggy, as they call it around here) using their forearms. Half lying in the child-seat portion of the cart, hunched over like a bicycle rider without any handbrakes. Tell me--how can you possibly retain control of the shopping cart without having your hands on the bar intended for such? Is it to avoid other people's germs? Some stores have wiper dispensers near the carts to clean the handle between users. This I found out AFTER my kids were grown and no longer sucking on the push handles.......It would seem to me that it would be harder on the back to propel the cart from down low (low riders!!) than standing in a full and upright position, using their hands to make for the forward motion. Even a few men were doing that, but I'll guess, for the most part, they are too tall to lay in the cart comfortably. Just my bugaboo....

Certainly somewhere another person is blogging about people who are at the store with blubber lips and drool, and staring at the shoppers going by...........

It isn't only Florida where people push their carts liek that. When Jamie was young they didn't have the wipes at stores yet to use. How things change over the years.
