Saturday on the river

Oh, it is a lovely day! The river is flat and smooth as the fishermen cast their nets for some mystery fish I have yet to see. The blue net disappears into the water and when he drags it back, he simply casts it out again without even checking it. Evidently he would see a fish if he caught one. The flat-bottomed boat sits quite still on the water, not even rocking side to side, at least not from this vantage point, as the three men fish and two women sit with their hands on their knees. I have heard that a bad day fishing is better than a good day working---it must be so! We have seen the manatees several times this past week and that is exactly where the boat is sitting---would that not be funny if their noses popped up out of the water and scared those two ladies?

In looking back through my postings, I do not think I mentioned the news regarding the pilot kindergarten program venture at my church. There is room in the new classroom building for this class, provided the State gives a variance for the bathroom access in the hallway. We have a young mom, Laurie, who is a highly educated and experienced elementary-aged teacher with three little boys ready for kindergarten this fall. A private school in our town closed so we are getting, at no cost, furniture, fixtures, materials, etc. for setting up a kindergarten for this year. She will teach for free, plus two other children will be enrolling and paying tuition, which will supposedly cover the overhead expenses. Twila has a great-grandson also ready for kindergarten so that makes three tuitions for 2009-10.
These are three of the six that will be in the pilot kindergarten program at Good Shepherd!

When I came home from Publix and visiting Great Hang Ups yesterday, I saw that the painters were moved down the building. I had wondered how and where they would put my Windex once they finished with the window cleaning, but there it was, on the floor, right inside my river room. Huh, it never occurred to me that someone could actually just open my third floor doors and put something on the floor, or even, come in and make themselves at home. Oh, Kim, you are too much sometimes! Never even occurred to me to lock the doors, but good thing I did not, or I might not have had my Windex back for cleaning today! The doors look okay, not perfect, but they were not perfect before they pressure washed, either!

I bet Kerry would agree with your statement about a bad day of fishing. Your description of the fishermen is so calming. You can just picture it in your mind. Hope the kindergarten will be able to get the variance. What a blessing for your church. Time for more laundry and dishes. Sometimes sunny hugs today other times cloudy hugs! Jilly

Hi Jilly!

My Suzanne would also agree about the fishing thing, would rather go fishing than just about anything else! Thank you for the writing compliment.

Perhaps today at church we will get an update on the kindergarten, etc., which will certainly be a blessing esp. for the kidlings!

Basking in the sun hugs,

Kim

Ha! I was thinking as I was reading it, I'd much rather be throwing a net and coming up net (looking for bait) than doing anything else! They might have been looking for shrimp too... but I hear the shrimp aren't in the river yet. So sad! One of these days we'll have another boat, and we too can be out there throwing a net!

I hope the pilot program is successful!

STUFFED HUGS! (I ate wayyy too much today!)

Hi Suzanne,

I am so tired after the festivities and such last night, and a full day of church and birthday stuff today........

I re-read what I wrote to Jill, and I refer to you as "my Suzanne"----awwww! I meant my friend, of course....who loves to fish!

Yawning hugs,

Kim
