Well, the truck was ready and though Justin was exhausted physically and mentally, off we went, after The Five, to pick up his pick up. He'd let the salesman know what time to expect us and traffic proved to be no problem. Sales staff were clustered outside the building as we pulled in, almost like they were a welcoming committee for us! The guy helping us was dangling keys our direction as we got out of the car. He took us inside and had us sit in a lounge while we waited for the finance guy to finish with someone else.
It seemed like staff were swarming all over the place, flitting like bees from flower to flower. A different man came to report the finance guy was ready so we followed him back to the front area, only to determine he wasn't available yet. In the meantime, the salesman came back in from outside, all sweaty, saying he'd personally vacuumed the truck. I expressed surprise at this, fully expecting the service people would have done all that during their 'preparations' for the sale. Sadly, um, this was not the case.
We had parked ourselves at a desk up front to wait our turn with the finance guy, the same seats we were in last Sunday. It was interesting how every time I asked the salesman, whose name escapes me, something, he'd respond, "That's a good question...let me find out..." I should have tried asking him for the time to hear what he'd answer!
At one point during the week the other sales guy we'd worked with offered to bring the truck over here and be done with it. I liked the sounds of that but we opted to go get it. So, while we were waiting for the finance guy, I asked the saleman how we'd have finished the transaction if they'd delivered the truck to us..."That's a good question..." Also, I asked what type of work had been to the truck that parts were needed for. "That's a good question..." and off he went again to find the answer. He came back with the service manager in tow, with an itemized list of the things needed to make the truck road-worthy. They even replaced the automatic window motors on both sides, besides reworking the brakes. This sounds to me like they really did try to find the things which could cause a problem. The tires look great on this thing which makes me feel good, as well. My precious cargo will be driving this thing!
At last we got in to see the finance guy, wrote the check, and were eventually out the door. When we got outside, the salesman had backed the truck up in a space near the doors. Justin was handed the keys and opened it up while the salesman attached the temporary tags on the back. This truck was not 'detailed', was barely vacuumed, much to our disappointment. Apparently that step was skipped due to its already being sold. That was disheartening to me but, nonetheless, it was his and we were on our way home. Relieved, and him satisfied with his decision...And now, we can say prayers of thanksgiving for the blessings we have, the safe ride over there and back, and for a job to pay for this new-to-him truck.
