"I Choose Not to Run"

One of the most comical "Seinfeld" episodes was just on, with so many layers of what's funny taking place, I can barely separate them! Jerry re-running a foot race with an old school mate; Kramer working as a department store Marxist Santa; Jerry's girlfriend named "Lois" (he's a HUGE Superman fan, so absolutely loves the name Lois); Elaine 'blacklisted' at the Chinese take-out place (not to mention being banned from having soup for one year!). She has the worst restaurant luck, poor girl!
*
We had only three in the memoir writing workshop today, but expect a couple more next week. Those who were here really enjoyed it, we shared our "samples" and I encouraged them to fill in any blanks they wish to make their story more complete. My scrapbook/painting ladies weren't able to come this noon, as it's Martie's birthday and her family snatched her away from me!
*
Chris and I would have feted her appropriately but to keep family peace, we let her go. Chris and her hubby were planning a day at the beach but I think the sky had other ideas, opening just as the writing crew was leaving my house. Being suddenly available for lunch, we decided to go to Longhorn on the Island which suits me perfectly, as I was longing for my Monday chicken fingers. Creature of habit, I am! And also know what I like!
*
My memoir writers enjoyed the view and atmosphere while here, even had the doors open until it began to rain. One mentioned that she would never have to go anywhere because it feels so good here. I asked her, "But what would you do about eating??"....for a moment she was stunned and then remembered who she's talking to. Some can't imagine not having to prepare meals daily for people who don't really appreciate their efforts or for those who recognize the non-effort put into meal-making. My former spouse was an amazing cook and I am not, but those in the area bistros do a fine job making me and who's ever with me, happy!
*
As often happens when we are together, my friends have a problem they wish to discuss, personal relationships usually at home or work. One of these friends has a reoccurring situation with a husband who is no longer 'among the living', rather, he sits at home watching sports or news on TV and reading the paper. This rattles her no end and after a certain point there's little anyone can add to comfort her wounded feelings. Today I was compelled to invoke the name of a great, wise man...and NOT Dr. Phil.
*
I shared with the group how Pete, as our pastor, gave me the 'special hug' and 'calming reminder' so desperately needed as my marriage was raveling. That hug? The Words of our Lord. The reminder? There is one thing and one thing only we can depend upon for eternity--Jesus' love for us never fails! His love never waivers, is unconditional, does not judge, and so on.
*
After a certain point, one has to just let God do His thing for and in us, and we should not dwell on what's NOT happening. Instead, focus on what is!!! Pete's reminder, God's actually, is that love is what we can do for others, give others, and IS NOT about getting or deserving. Give not get! Okay, see? Now, let's talk about something else--global warming anyone? Animal cruelty perhaps? How about the floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters for table talk?
*
I took advantage of the electrical storm later this afternoon, keeping my computer shut off and safe, by watching a documentary movie about singer and songwriter, Leonard Cohen. I've been a fan of some of his music for many years, mostly because Judy Collins and Baez sang some of his poems on their albums. We listened to some of Cohen's music when playing Name That Tune at Lori and David's in April. I am humbled by his writing. I looked on the computer for recording of his and discovered that he'd been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year! Rock 'n roll? Okay, I guess. Leonard Cohen was, although seemingly unlikely, a love interest of Janis Joplin, sharing shelter at the Chelsea Hotel in NYC. This I knew, but it still amazes me how these poet/musicians move about in each other's lives.
*
So, as time goes by here, my next meeting is about to begin so I have to run---unless, of course, I choose NOT to run!!!!!

Some fun and interesting things yesterday.....

I have only a few moments before needing to dress and such for the day. Some pending writers will be arriving shortly to begin their trip through time, memoir writing. I snitched this concept from Judy R., who wrote the most beautiful memoir of her grandfather and dad and other relatives, using the same format we are using today. I so 'cited!!! It is such a blessing to have friends who are "kindred spirits" AND are teachers!!! An endless resource of ideas!!
*
Reading my previous paragraph---I'd be in big trouble at Elaine Benes' publishing company, overuse of !!!!!!. Robbie told me once that I write like I talk, hence, the !!!!!.
*
Tuesday morning I went over to Mandarin to pick up my books for today, plus found something for Justin's birthday. Remembering that The Bucket List came out on DVD, I went to see if they had it. A nice lady tried to help me, but she was only filling in while another girl took a break. We searched around, found it, discussed it at length, with me stopping short of giving the entire story away and breaking into tears. Whew! That was close! It cost a whole lot more buying it at B & N than at Wal-Mart but made for one-stop shopping. I also got myself an inexpensive journal to use for my workshop today. For not being a voracious reader, I can sure get into a lot of trouble at Barnes and Noble!!!!
*
On the way over and then back from Mandarin (where the land is sold in "segments" instead of lots-----oranges, get it??) I had nice chats with Joanne---finally! She is working on her parents' home in MI, trying to get it cleaned out inside and straightened away outside so they can list it for sale. She has her hands quite full up there and I rejoiced at getting to actually speaking with her versus leaving messages for each other all the time. And twice we spoke, in one day....great! Also, I had a call from Jen wanting to meet for lunch, which was doable if timed just right. Multi-tasking, driving, talking, planning, and doing it all safely.
*
I got across the bridge and worked my way to Blanding Blvd. so I could pick up my new glasses. Oh, they do look cute, even though I hate the idea of wearing glasses again. Everything is so crisp when I have them on, but my stubborn side wants me to continue being less sharp. Is that like cutting off ones' nose to spite their face? The technician had to shorten the length of the bows because they stuck out past my ears in the back--I have a small head, contrary to popular opinion. And out the door I go! With the glasses tucked away in my purse, of course. I did take them out to show Jen and she loved them, said they look just like me! Thank God for red frames!
*
We had a lovely lunch at Pengree's, where I also met some of the ladies from Art Guild. I think they'd done a change-out at The Cancer Center earlier, if my notes were accurate. Another of our members hangs her art in Pengrees and comes in from Penney Farms to do so. Penney Farms, named after JC himself, was established to serve as a retirement community for pastors way back when. Now, Christian lay workers, pastors, missionaries, and other church-related retirees live and work together on this compound. Sounds perfect for retired church secretaries, too! Endless union meetings.....The man who played the Coroner in the "Wizard of Oz" also lives there. Just a little trivia...
*
After lunch I went out to Great Hang Ups to see my lady friends. I hadn't seen them since last week, didn't even go to my painting time with Dee because of my goofy teeth business. We got caught up some and found out we are supposed to meet again on Thursday, which won't work for me because of a Building Committee Meeting. Rats! I'd rather go paint, since we have nothing really to discuss. It's a slow, plodding process to build these classrooms....the Blue Mosque in Istanbul was built in 3 years, and we're going on six years with the planning here!!! Of course, as Pastor Humann reminded me, we aren't using slave labor and the Turks were NOT Lutherans! Keeping in mind that all the workers on this team and involved in this effort are volunteers and have other things going on in their lives than building this building......

Here is a picture of the Blue Mosque, NOT built by a committee of Lutherans!

*
I got home just before the heavens opened and got my stuff hauled upstairs without getting it all wet. Good! Brought some more paper into the house to mess up my office and desk. Oh, I really need to address some of this paperwork one of these days. Jen remarked that she likes to do filing, but Rick doesn't. Rebecca, my friend who moved to Onalaska, used to work for us and simply loved doing the filing. I just don't get it. I've mentioned before how I like everything else in my life nice 'n neat but my office mess, forget it! And my car mess, complete with poisonous spiders...............forget that too!

Having a "down day" today.....

......but not in a bad way, rather by design. Last night I left a message at the endodontist office saying I'd decided to hold off the other root canal for a bit, now that things have pretty much settled down in my mouth. I keep taking the antibiotic to knock out the infection, and even though my tooth next to the repaired one is tender, it's nothing some aspirin can't handle. Not bothering using the "good" pain medicine for it, save that for another incident which I am sure is coming!
*
I almost have to retract what I was going to say about the day, that I chose to stay in all stinking day, but.............................shortly after 6:00 pm my phone rang. I'd put some cauliflower in the veggie steamer to have for dinner....anyway, it was Olivia calling to see if I want to have dinner with them. Sure! My steamer was nearly done and by the time they got down here to collect me, it was done enough to unplug as I headed out the door. I've made this claim before---if someone calls and wants to go to dinner, I'll shut off the stove and accept! Get out of my way! I got to ride in my big red car again, which is great fun.
*
We went to Fleming Island to an Italian eatery called "Venice", even though the owners appear to be Greek. Hey, it's okay with me! The food was great, but, of course, I brought much of mine home with me. Owen drove in from Middleburg to meet us, arriving in his restored Jeep. It looks so cool but kills his back and causes his pants to tear as he pulls himself up into it. I thought my big red car was a climb! Olivia wanted me to go for a ride with him but I refused, there was no way on this earth I'd get up into it, not without a stool or a running board!
*
Olivia is getting interested in scrapbooking, especially since they picked up their photos taken at yesterday's Debutant event. She printed over 300 pictures, more than enough for a decent scrapbook. Sandy and she came upstairs after dinner and looked at some of my albums to get an idea of what's involved. I offered to go shopping with her to buy supplies when she's ready. I showed them the most recent project done of my mother-in-laws' life plus my Mediterranean trip one. I think she's in!!!!!!!
*
During the summer we are taking a recess from our Monday a.m. Bible study which totally messes with my inner schedule. I told Justin earlier that I was so hungry for Longhorn's chicken fingers, because we go there every week after study. Since I had no place to go and nothing else scheduled, I decided to just stay home and enjoy myself. Linda called this afternoon and we had a great chat, perfect for a day at home. She's recovering her knee surgery and finds herself watching TV when she's not asleep from the medicine and not doing therapy. She just watched the movie "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and had to call me about Santorini, where some of the movie takes place. I've written about this movie in previous blogs. Linda hasn't seen "Under the Tuscan Sun" yet either so is going to fit that into her viewing schedule.

Santorini, the jewel of the Aegean!

*
Tomorrow is the big day--The Bucket List comes out in the stores!!!! I have to go to Mandarin's Barnes and Noble for copies of "When I Was Young on the Mountain" which I am using for the memoir writing workshop. I have some ladies coming on Wednesday so need the books for their reference, for homework. I think B & N will carry the DVD, too, so can get it all in one stop! I so 'cited!!!!!!

*

My sister, Lynn, and Mom drove to Marinette for the funeral of my Auntie Svea. Her husband, my Uncle Kenny, died in 1988, just prior to our moving to Florida, and we used that car ride to drop the bomb on some of my family. Figuring we could use that time to discuss our plans and such---well, it didn't turn out quite the way we'd hoped. For some reason or another my peoples didn't want us to move away and take precious baby Justin from them. We all know it worked out for the best, allowing our families the opportunity to come visit outside their own state and for my mom to be part of two church families. I can't imagine life without my church, it's such a blessing! Auntie Svea was in her 90's already, I think, and has three children surviving her. We loved going to visit them, a good hour and a half ride in those days.....and we'd drive over the border into Michigan to buy our contraband oleo! Was that okay, I wonder??????? Bet not!
*
Linda's phone call stirred in me a desire to check out the listing of free movies available ON DEMAND. I am trying to offer relief to my eyes by not spending so much time on the computer, so took a little break late afternoon. Still haven't discontinued my Comcast service, just dread the thought of getting on the phone with BellSouth again to discuss the change over. That's a fact! It takes so much time, and with my busy schedule................Maybe tomorrow I'll get to it. I watched a movie called "Face the Music" (1993) about a formerly married couple who had teamed as song writers in the past, and were contacted to collaborate on song for a movie. They ended up, of course, getting married again, but the story in between was quite cute. Sort of the same premise as the more recent movie with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore about a song writing team.
*
By switching my Internet service to BellSouth, I am able to retain my home phone number which we've had forever. At least since we moved out of the Middleburg exchange area. When I called to cancel my home phone service, which I don't really need anymore since Mom isn't coming down to stay in the winters, the representative said I'd lose the number forever. UNLESS, I switch my Internet to theirs, the number will be reserved for me should I ever decide to put in a land line again. And, it's less money than Comcast, apparently more dependable, too! All I have to do is make the phone call and its done.
*
I have the patio doors and my kitchen door open right now, allowing for a warm breeze to blow through the house. The chimes are tinkling (I'll clean that up later....) and palms are making tropical noises for my enjoyment. The A/C kicked in to respond to the warmth so I shut it off completely. Evidently it must be more than 80 degrees in here....When it's time to go to bed, I will close the doors and turn the A/C back on for comfortable sleeping. In the meantime, I'll relish the sounds and sensation of summer (spring) breezes.
*
Pastor is gone to a Conference and is taking his daughter to a youth retreat so we are without our leader for Tuesday and Wednesday night's study. So, guess what! My house is going to be used for a modified Bible study Tuesday evening! I had just ordered a tape of the "God's Great Exchange" which is sort of training for evangelism so I've decided that is what we'll use. I can prepare something for our dinner or meet like we usually do at an area restaurant. I already have cauliflower ready to serve!!!!

The end of an action packed day

I can't wait to put my feet up tonight, or my entire body, for that matter. It's been a long, long day, beginning with Bible study and worship. Some of our 'seldom seens' were there this a.m., I can't help but wonder if they came due to receiving their "Keeping the Faith" letter I sent out earlier in the week. Perhaps it was a coincidence to have them come, drawn by the church picnic or whatever, but it was good to have them back in worship with the flock again.
*
Between Sunday school and worship we have a social time at which volunteers donate crumbless treats to enjoy with their coffee. As I drove down Wells Road, it crossed my mind, "Oh, I hope it wasn't my turn to bring donut holes today.....". It was then I remembered NOT bringing my cole slaw for the church picnic! Rats! It was going to be soooo good, too, with pineapple tidbits and walnut pieces in it....There is more than I can eat so will offer some to my neighbors to enjoy with their dinners tomorrow. Justin isn't a big fan so won't even offer. And, no, it was not my turn to bring the donuts---next week instead.
*
I got into Bible class just a minute or two late so missed the beginning of it. Sort of glad about that because the lesson we were looking at involved a Shunamite (?) woman whose son died suddenly and she went off without telling her husband about it, to find Elisha. Wow! It's not possible for me to read a story about this type of thing and not project myself and/or Timmy into it, not possible. Fortunately, the prophet was able, with the Lord's power, to restore life into this child. Our worksheet asked some questions that I'd have loved to answer but wasn't in the, shall we say?, frame of mind to speak. My mascara held up nicely and I was none the worse for the wear.
*
Immediately following worship was our church picnic. There was an inflatable water slide set up for the little ones and they had great fun playing on it. The temperature was in the low 90's and the prospect of that water slide was mighty appealing to even the adults! No one missed my dish of cole slaw, there was plenty of foods and other salads to fill the gap. Although it was "casual dress" today, I had to wear my regular church clothes as I was going straight to a Debutante event at my neighbor's house, for Olivia.
Whee! Here comes Sarah down the water slide....Paul is looking on from the right.
*
I was one of the first guests to arrive and the woman whose home was being used was most gracious to me. We'd met before, and acted like she did remember me. Mary made sure I had a bottle of water, yes, water, and found me a chair. She wanted to make sure I found people to talk with but later she came through and told Sandy that she knew I didn't have a problem mingling! All the mothers of the Deb's and their daughters were attired in lovely summer dresses, wore a corsage, and little white gloves! White gloves, imagine that! Olivia and Sandy both looked gorgeous, as did all the moms/daughters. I got to see many, many St. Johns ladies, teachers, moms, their daughters, even my neighbor showed up. It was impressive, as is this home. The Hostess, whose family owned and operated the majority of the convenience stores and gas stations in the area, lives right near the entrance to The Club in a Spanish revival-style home, also gorgeous. It was a treat to be invited to this Tea and to have free run of her home.
*
We made plans to meet for dinner tonight but when Olivia got to Blu Grotto (yes, again!), she found it closed. Should have known that but wasn't thinking when we set it up. Instead we went to Koko's with Justin in tow. The two young people yakked and yakked while us "old" folks did the same. We always have such fun with them, I love 'em!
*
I was showing Owen something in the back of my car where some soda bottles had leaked due to the heat (I have to keep in mind when I buy bottled soda---take it upstairs right away or it will blow!). I had picked up a couple items from the cemetary today and had them in the carrying box from the soda. Owen was moving the box when he got excited and pointed out a black widow spider just inside the box! Evidently it came out of the stuff I picked up. That's all Justin had to see! He was extremely upset, and I thought it was nice how he worried about his mama riding around with poisonous spiders in her car------oh, no siree! He accused me of trying to kill him by making him ride in my bug-infested car! Justin is so afraid of spiders, the same way I am about mice! If we'd seen a mouse in the car-----I'd be calling a cab before I'd get back in! Owen, our hero!!!! He flipped the spider out with one of the Matchbox cars, and then stomped on it. Olivia made him scrape his shoe along so none of the guts stayed on his shoes. Whew! That was close!!!!
*
When I got home from the Tea, my feet were screaming for mercy. I wore flat sandles with elastic bands across the ankle and around the back of my foot. I got into my bedroom, pried the shoes from my swollen feet and tossed them into the wastebasket. That was just enough!!! When we got to Koko's, Sandy was getting out of the car yet, so I went over by her (they were in my car, my Big Red Car, which Olivia now drives!). She had put socks on with her clogs because she had huge blisters on both feet from her dress shoes which she wore all afternoon, standing in the reception line and mingling later. Owen said he told her to throw them out, and I told him that I tossed mine when I got home. Ouch!
*
So, now it's time to go put those puppies up for the rest of the night. Prayers, please, for the recovery from surgery for my sister, Kerry, who had her hernia repaired, and for Linda, who has a brand-new knee! Good night all!!!!

The Sun Also Rises

I slept like a dream last night! What does THAT mean? I am not sure but all I know is that I had a really good sleep. The night before I was wakeful, apprehensive that my teeth would wake me up. I wasn't going to let that happen, so I stayed awake!! Smart!
*
A raccoon just climbed down from the top of a palm tree across from my window. When the water level is low, as it is now, the "wildlife" on the breakwater is exposed to sight. Why I never noticed the raccoon on the tree before, I don't know. Thursday night when the ladies were here for the dinner, Christie took great pleasure in tossing hamburger buns out to the 'coons. It's a lot further toss than it appears but eventually she scored a ringer and a raccoon had some thing good to eat. He probably asked, "Where's the beef?" Ha ha ha

*
Having the water low also exposes areas of the breakwater seldom seen. All along the northern edge of the rocks are planks in many lengths, stacked by the water or layered along the base. These boards are not part of the original rock plan at all, in fact, they were put there by Hurricane Jeanne in 2004. Up and down the river (and the lake, I can attest to that!) docks and piers were torn asunder, the debris not always recovered. Well, I know where some of it is! Being the wood is weather-treated, it may live a long time along the breakwater unless, perhaps, the new marina people will take the liberty of removing the trash from the other side of the rocks. Although not too likely, the boards could float free when the water level is right and cause some damage to the boats. This is the argument to use when requesting the developer clean it up!
*
While waiting around at Wal-Mart yesterday, I took part in people watching, certain they were staring at my fat lip and drooling. Ugh! For some reason, it bugs me greatly to see people, mostly women, attempting to steer their cart (or buggy, as they call it around here) using their forearms. Half lying in the child-seat portion of the cart, hunched over like a bicycle rider without any handbrakes. Tell me--how can you possibly retain control of the shopping cart without having your hands on the bar intended for such? Is it to avoid other people's germs? Some stores have wiper dispensers near the carts to clean the handle between users. This I found out AFTER my kids were grown and no longer sucking on the push handles.......It would seem to me that it would be harder on the back to propel the cart from down low (low riders!!) than standing in a full and upright position, using their hands to make for the forward motion. Even a few men were doing that, but I'll guess, for the most part, they are too tall to lay in the cart comfortably. Just my bugaboo....
*
Certainly somewhere another person is blogging about people who are at the store with blubber lips and drool, and staring at the shoppers going by...........
*
On my way to Twila's to watch the Poker Run boats, but first, must go on my appointed rounds with The Palace newsletter, the inaugural issue!
..........Neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor dark of night shall prevent me from my appointed rounds.............Newman!!!

I used to have a lot of nerve.........

........but I have fewer than when this year began! Once more its off to the dentist and then the endodontist to have my head/teeth examined. January 2, the fun started when I had a root canal after suffering with it over the New Year's holiday. Even missed church because of it.
*
Then yesterday I had a few zips dash through some of my top right hand teeth. I say 'teeth' because, as any of you who have had this type of toothache know, it's often difficult to determine which tooth it is exactly. X-rays showed two possible sources for the zipping sensation. So, this a.m. I appeared at the door of the endodontist, again, to have him take more pictures and make a determination. Yes, two areas, side by side, showing infection at the roots. One tooth was still alive, the other being treated many years ago and already had RCT, perhaps even in WI.
*
Dr. Smith, who greeted me warmly, called me "sweetheart", was able to take care of the more simple one right away today and I have to go back for the other one on Monday. Oh, brother! They should administer the nitrous oxide BEFORE giving the patient the estimate!!! For the equivalent of a lovely cruise in the Mediterranean, you can have two more root canals in 2008! And perhaps, replace a crown which will probably get broken in the process!!! But wait, there's more...no, not really, I just couldn't resist saying that.....
*
I asked the dentist if he was getting tired of seeing me and he said "Never!" Of course not! In WI, we used to tease that I bought my dentist a new horse every time I went to see him. Today's procedure brings me to 16 root canals in my adult life, including one tooth which eventually had to be pulled to make way for my wisdom tooth. Monday's procedure will be to re-do an old one, so I can't notch my belt over it. I don't know what hobbies or habits I'm supporting for this fine doctor but will keep him well supplied with something!!!
*
I had to go to Wal-Mart to get my prescriptions filled, which took a good half hour. Usually those minutes can be used to make other spur-of-the-moment purchases, but I didn't really feel like it today. While waiting, I got a text message from Justin asking if I felt like lunch, so I told him I'd be glad to meet him and have something soft. I ordered mashed potatoes with cheese sprinkled on it, which eased my growling tummy. Hadn't eaten anything since dinner last night with the ladies, and had 15 minutes to get to the dentist this a.m. No time for breakfast---it was all that I could do to get myself dressed and out the door, no time to eat. Justin was very kind and didn't complain about my drooling and slurping. Or the occasional spitting---I couldn't help it...I was numb up to the top of my head!!!!
*
Oh, and by the way, in case you're wondering---my legs DID feel heavy when we got done!!

Baby, It's Hot Outside!

This from a girl who usually doesn't mind the heat. And I still don't, having not been outside yet but knowing it's going to 94 today, on our picnic day, this might be a problem! Some of the ladies prefer to be cooler, shall we say?, and may find temperatures in the 90's not quite cool! Later, I'll send out a feeler e-mail to see if we should set up on the sundeck or indoors instead....
*
I have the A/C on this morning, in fact, even overnight, and it was down to 79 in here! Just got back from the kitchen where I got a glass of water, passed the thermostat and saw it was 81 degrees in the house. Okay, I'll turn it down to 79. My ceiling fan keeps the air moving so it's not stuffy in here at all.
*
Debris from the roof is dropping all the way down to the first floor, as they are doing major removal from the raised areas of the roof. Some of the top units have lofts which make it actually 6 floors in some areas. We were warned that this was going to be a big day in the demolition process and must bear with it. And I will. It's so funny to hear the work going on, two or three levels above me, when it sounds more like right outside my bedroom door.
*
Oooo, I just had a big black bird fly past my window, carrying a fish in its talons. Lunch! The harbor area is quiet these days, no dredging going on and no fisherman at present---other than the bird, that is! Last night I noticed the boom of the crane beyond the breakwater was illuminated, almost like CHRISTmas lights, for the first time that I've noticed. This might be because there was a great deal of helicopter traffic up and down the river way, and it wouldn't be good to run into the crane in the darkness. It looked pretty out there, rather festively dressed for early June.
*
Saturday I am looking forward to going to Twila's to watch the Poker Run. The speed boats, cigarette-style racers, leave the Landing downtown and race all the way to Palatka and back, gathering playing cards at scheduled stops along the way. Twila lives on the path to a stop-off place, Whitey's Fish Camp, and we annually gather on her dock to watch the fun. Once, her grandson, Mark, the guitar player, took us out on the boat during the Run and we had to make haste back to safety before the "big" boats came through. Tommy and Linda, who was in tears anyway, had quite the adventure that day! And a ring side seat to boot!
*
I spent some time this a.m. looking at the news on-line and saw a blurb saying Kelsey Grammar was released from a hospital in Hawaii after a mild heartache. Or as his father on "Frasier" would say, "A cardiac event". Evidently he's going to be okay, or he wouldn't be allowed to go home, I guess.
*
Also, I've seen that Jerry Seinfeld is going on tour. When I first saw the info about it, my first thought was, "I have to ask Pete about this!" I'd love to go to one of his shows but was afraid, yes, afraid, that I'd be horribly disappointed by a live show....Pete said that he didn't have a clue as to content but wouldn't be surprised if it was an "R"-rated program, since that's what the public has come to expect. It would "kill me, Jerry, kill me" to hear Jerry, of whom I've become a fan, talking filthy. I read a couple reviews of his live show taking place around the US and several mentioned that it was "clean", "whole family", "no vulgarity"---marvelous! What a relief! Listening now on youtube to his tour, sneaking a peek, I've only heard good and very funny things. It seems the closest his tour comes to me is Miami and on Justin's birthday! Nope, can't make it this time 'round....nuts!
*
Pastor and I have a meeting at 3:30 pm today so I'd better get my paperwork together and my head on straight. In a little while I'm going to go brown hamburger for my reknowned baked beans--Barb's Baked Beans, as they are known in "the family". Yummy! My friend, Carole, is having her husband making some hot dogs on the grille just for me, private stock. What a sweetheart! I was telling her how I missed being able to grille and she offered to have Phil cook some for me. Making room in the freezer now!
