What does today bring?

Well, the fasting has begun and I am thirsty already! Just knowing that I cannot have even a tiny sip of soda is making me nuts. Sips of water are permissible but not encouraged to down glass upon glass before the blood work after 3:00 pm. What will the tests show???? Joanne crowed the other night something to the tune of "wait 'til they see your cholesterol!" For that reason alone, just to show her, I hope the tests come back favorably. My family doctor, Dr. House, for real, said once that if he had his way, he would walk around the house eating a stick of butter. But, his wife won't let him. He also said he has the longest life span of any man in his family, living beyond age 63, thanks to Lipitor. His sales pitch to me worked and I accepted the Lipitor, but am trying to not take any more prescription drugs. We will see what the tests show, to see if I have to give in to the peer pressure of taking Lipitor!!!

Yesterday I had the privilege of sitting in on an interview with the County Supervisor for Argyle and Oakleaf, with the LES Team. He explained about the new schools opening, coming on line, in the Oakleaf area, and how the beltway corridor which is being planned will reduce the traffic going past our facility when it is completed. Mike C. seemed to feel that Doug was "towing the County line" by promoting the government schools as compared to our private school but I did not take it that way. We need people from the community and area reps to be straightforward with us, not sugar-coat their reports, so the most accurate assessment can be made by this Team.

Later, I was able to be the commentator on a riding tour of the parish area from church east and south, with Mike serving as the driver. This worked out well as he is familiar with the Bel-Air area and knew the locations of the grade schools and such. The guys thanked me later for the information, the local color of the area, instead of only the "nuts and bolts" about Orange Park. Once in awhile Mike and I would sort of disagree about details, but, for the most part, we bombarded these two men with more information than they could handle. Not really......Joanne had given me a briefing the night before as Phil had given me a list of questions for which they needed answers regarding the neighborhoods, make-up, demographics, and so on about our potential student draw.

Last evening and today the Team is meeting with non-member parents of the preschool, individual members, families with school-aged children, folks who would be the ones to help support the additional grades should they be added, and so on. I am not part of this portion of the weekend. Also, the Council and Elders will be meeting with Greg and Phil at some point today. Tomorrow they will give their presentation at a meeting after lunch, which is pot luck mixed with home-cooked bbq Boston butts, by our own member-chef, Mike S. Yummy! I pray we have a good showing for this important meeting!!!

I wish you luck on your blood tests. I always thought they schedule blood work in the mornings. We are experiencing snow once again. I went to the store and it was horrible driving. I shoveled a path to the garage but when I go home you could hardly tell. It isn't alot of snow but more than enough for thsi winter. So now I am staying put in warm cozy home. Love Jill

Hi Jill,

So sorry about the snow business again---there's no business like snow business...never mind!

How wonderful your home is warm after having furnace failure last week!

This Life Line Screening thing was scheduled first, the ultrasound portion and such, but then I was able to add the additional tests which put them in the afternoon with the rest of the tests. I will be fine, especially once I get to the Stonewood Grille with my friends for dinner!

Love and hugs,

Kim

If it's any consolation, my doctor put me on high blood pressure meds and gave me a "diet" to go by for low triglycerides. Apparently I had too many!

I did our part to represent at the meeting this morning, and we had an interesting bit of conversation. We'll see what tomorrow's meeting reveals about us as a congregation with goals for a school.

Just thought I would mention that i am making brats for supper. Jamie and Hannah had them last night and now I am hungry for them too. Plus I bought some german potato salad. I shoveled earlier and there is alot of snow. I will probably go back out later. Get out the Ben Gay! Hugs!!

Hi Suzanne!

It is a consolation, and I thank you! Many people who are not really "up" on these things will assume that people of size will have these wild cholestral readings, but not always so! Even skinny people have problems, and a certain of our fellow members is a lady who is thin yet has to deal with these issues.

Thanks for meeting the Team Saturday and giving your open thoughts. Yes, I am excited to hear what they have to say and am wondering if we will have the final word on that today or sometime down the road.....

Hugs,

Kim

Hi Jill!

First Linda M. is telling about pork sausage made with the heads of pigs, and then you bring up brats!!!!! I hope you didn't overdo it with the shoveling, and I again suggest you get your 16-year-old son out there instead of you.

Hugs,

Kim

I've been on Lipitor and blood pressure drugs for at least 10 years.
We had 9" here yesterday, the pile of snow in front of the shed where the patio furniture is , is as high as the door.
Now everybody will be wanting my liver sausage!!!!!! I am going to try to make it with a food processor. Will have to borrow one as I gave the one that was here away!!!!
Whats our topic again?????

Hi Linda M.!

It looks the topic is all over the place, which is perfectly fine with me!

The LES Team, one of whom flied into MKE, is fairly sure of getting out of here and into snow country without any problems. We shall see!

Thanks for the photo of the patio, it looks inviting. One of the guys who cooks at church remarked about making liver sausage and I had not even brought it up! Must be in the air or something.......

As I told my table mates at the pot luck today, I felt as though taking Lipitor marked me as an "old person" but thankfully you have restored my spirit, knowing you were on these meds for 10 years!
Have a good day,

Kim
