I just finished my nice dinner after getting home from church and choir rehearsal, and quick stop at McDonalds. Wednesdays are their discounted cheeseburgers which are just the right size for me, with a small fry. When I pulled up to the cashier window, I asked the nice young man if they had cherry pies and he said he wished they did. I told him that my mom has cherry pies where she lives and he asked if that was up north. Why yes, how did he know that? My accent! I told him she lives in WI and he said everything is better in WI! And that California and New York offer delivery service from McDonalds...Really? Wow! This would NOT be good thing, as I told him, because I would never come out of my house then. We had quite the chat at the drive-up window! But no cherry pie...

My room held some of its heat from when I shut down the heater when I left for church which made me happy. Now I am snug and warm and full. Before heading for church I had to stop at RE/MAX to pick up some envelopes from Joanne. She had said she would meet me in the parking lot but was not there so I went inside, being admitted by Christine. It was great to see her, twice in a month!, and also saw the broker, a friend of mine, Rich. Joanne had someone in her office which is why she had not come out so I grabbed the envelopes and flew. She was going to be late for church, too, having a longer ride than I had in front of me. Mine was not as long as it is slow with the heavy traffic at that time of night. And then a train across the tracks to boot!

Part of the afternoon was spent on the phone with family in WI as it seems my father-in-law, Arno, has begun to seriously fail. He is 92 and has Alzheimer's disease plus Parkinson's disease. Yesterday the nurses could not get him to swallow his pills as it seemed like he was unable to do so. How sad, but I hope he does not suffer too long with this. Once before he went through a bad spell and snapped back so he might do the same again. We shall see....My travel plans for March might need to be modified if I need to go up to WI sooner than originally planned.

Not like my morning was much more enjoyable.........working on my taxes! Oh, so NOT my favorite thing to be doing and it was quite depressing when faced with the numbers. I still need my paperwork from the pharmacy and then I should be about ready to submit to the accountant. I had really better get a move on in case I have to leave abruptly. Also have a ton of church work pending that needs taking care of before the end of the month. I agreed to handle the publicity for a musical group coming down here in March so tomorrow I had better dedicate myself to that project when I get home after Bible study and lunch with Justin.

Friday morning John C. is coming over to look at my electrical repairs needing attention. He only works 4 days a week right now, longer days but fewer of them. He is going to check on my recessed lighting in the kitchen, the long tubes, to see if I need new ballasts or what. One of my outdoor lights is on the fritz too plus I would like a new light kit on my kitchen ceiling fan. Nothing much, just putzy stuff Justin cannot do. Friday night a bunch of us from church are going to dinner at Mimi's Cafe before attending a concert at Victory. They are collecting clothes and shoes for sending to Haiti as part of the concert, Koine being the band, playing hymns and such as rock music. As Suzanne said tonight, "You totally got dragged into this one!" Yes, totally!!

I hope Arno can find the peace that he is looking for. He has lived a good life. Soon you can come here and get those cherry pies. Seems like the young man has heard that request before. I don't know if I would like the delivery service from McDonald's. Now Culver's would be a different picture.
Jill
Hi Jill,
Yes, I am hoping Arno does not suffer. Since he can really no longer communicate verbally, like a baby cannot, it is difficult to determine exactly what is going on with him.
Any restaurant who would deliver life's simple pleasures to my door would be most welcome, and sadly, we do not have Culvers. I wish Late's delivered this far south....
Drooling,
Kim
I had McD's yesterday too! For lunch, but Checker's for dinner. It was a convenience kind of day.
I am praying Arno does not suffer as well!
I didn't realize Koine' was collecting shoes and clothes.. so I'll have to do some searching. Glad I read your blog at lunch today! You sure did get dragged into this! *wink* I'm so glad!
Hopefully, John can straighten out your lighting situation.
See you tomorrow night!
Hugs!
Suzanne
Hi Suzanne!
I, too, am glad you read the blog at work! Did you order the cheap cheeseburgers like I did? I put one in the freezer for another time, being such a cheap date!
Yes, certainly, clean out your closets, kids stuff, too and shoes. Joel is going down in March sometime so you do have a bit of time to gather your pieces. But then to get it over there......better do it tonight!
Justin is bringing his castoffs to the church Sunday, saying the bags are too heavy for me to lift! What a sweetheart...
Hugs and smiles, (want fries with that???)
Kim
